Planned Parenthood’s annual report continues to be the subject of legitimate outrage with its reporting of lower client and service numbers for the abortion operation and higher abortion numbers and an exorbitant amount of tax dollars it received for its blood money business. STOPP released its analysis of the 2022-2023 report a few weeks ago, highlighting both the numbers and the inconsistencies within Planned Parenthood’s lack of reporting numbers. This week we are sharing some other points from the annual report that are worth noting.

Total contraception numbers went down 4% within the year. Meanwhile, the only contraception service that saw an increase was vasectomies, or male sterilizations, which saw a staggering 43% increase within a year. Perhaps the multiple “Free Vasectomy Days” Planned Parenthood has hosted since 2022 contributed to this increase. But it is worth noting that Planned Parenthood repeatedly targets not only women and their babies but men as well.

With news of Planned Parenthood’s emergence in transgender services the past few years, it reported that 45 out of its 49 affiliates now offer “gender-affirming hormone therapy.” Despite this increase, Planned Parenthood’s “other procedures,” which includes transgender services, saw a 40% decrease from the numbers in 2021-2022.

Another point worth noting is that Planned Parenthood’s adoption referrals went down 4.5% with a total of 1,721 referrals. It is not surprising that these numbers are low since Planned Parenthood’s profit comes from taking lives through abortion, not saving them, which is clearly seen in its highest recorded abortion numbers of at least a heartbreaking 392,715 lives taken in 2022-2023.

Planned Parenthood stated on its website that only 13 Planned Parenthood affiliates can legally provide telehealth visits specifically for abortion pills. Its CEO proclaimed just a few weeks prior to the annual report’s release that 70% of Planned Parenthood’s abortions are done via abortion pills. However, since the abortion pill, or “medical abortion,” is not mentioned once in the annual report, it leaves us wondering if the abortion numbers actually account for the number of lives taken by abortion in the year.

Planned Parenthood also mentions in its report that 863,000 people clicked on its referral link to abortionfinder.org, which informs people where they can get in-person abortions and the abortion pill via mail. As Planned Parenthood continues to not report on its abortion pill numbers and highlights referrals to abortion numbers instead, STOPP continues to call out Planned Parenthood for both its lack of transparency in reporting abortion pill numbers and its role in acting as a “middleman” by referring abortion pills.

Back in 2021, Missouri pro-life leaders stood on the state capitol steps proclaiming the “Missouri miracle” because Missouri was leading the nation in eliminating Planned Parenthood and abortion in that state. It was a glorious victory that leaders hoped would lead to other states’ successes in defending life.

But Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry did not move on from Missouri. Instead, just under five years later, Missouri is targeted by Planned Parenthood and others. These abortion advocates are now spending millions to gather signatures to put a ballot initiative in the November election. This initiative, if passed, would enshrine abortion into the constitution.

Pro-lifers and all Missourians have fought back with a campaign to “decline to sign” the ballot paperwork, but now the signed petitions are in the hands of election officials for review. We shall see soon whether Planned Parenthood has succeeded.

But even as pro-lifers fight these efforts by Planned Parenthood in Missouri, news comes that Planned Parenthood is increasing its use of the abortion drug as its “next step” for delivering abortion. St. Louis Public Radio is reporting on the proliferation of abortion drugs available from Planned Parenthood on its abortion app. The app is called Planned Parenthood Direct, and it is being pushed by Planned Parenthood.

According to an NPR article

Patients who are up to 10 weeks pregnant can fill out screening questions on the Planned Parenthood Direct app any time of the day and provide an Illinois address where their medication abortion pills mifepristone and misoprostol would be mailed if they qualify. That could be a house, or a hotel. Some Planned Parenthood affiliates already mail pills to patients, but require at least a virtual visit with a medical provider first.

Dr. Colleen McNicholas, chief medical officer for Reproductive Health Services of Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region, said that her facility is implementing this for patients in Illinois. As the article explains, “A provider will review a patient’s answers via the app within 24 hours and, if approved, mail the medication to the patient. A visit with a doctor isn’t required.”Aside from the death of countless babies, there are so many potential problems for the women who take the abortion pill. Further scrutiny of this app and its use is warranted, so STOPP will dig into this and report when more information is available.
