Pro-Life This Week – November 1, 2019

Week in Review – Abortion industry misdirection; BC problems; CLSP contests

Misdirection #1—Breaking news this week: A hearing is taking place in Missouri where the state is trying to close down the last abortion facility in the state. That facility is run by Planned Parenthood and the mainstream news media is going out of its way to portray the state as the bad guys and Planned Parenthood as the noble ones. There was a particularly distorted story this week about the state “tracking menstrual cycles” of Planned Parenthood customers. The general news media went wild with various reports of “period tracking” and many Democrats calling for the firing of the state employee involved. It was a classic Planned Parenthood ploy of trying to take the spotlight off Planned Parenthood’s dangerous facility and shine it instead towards a public servant taking his job seriously and trying to protect women. Our friends at Operation Rescue immediately issued a statement calling out the media. WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO READ IT and to read the statement from Dr. Randall Williams of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. You can read them here.

Please send a note of support to Dr. Williams, thanking him for putting the health and welfare of Missouri’s women and children first—without regard to ongoing attacks on him by pro-abortion forces, who have expressed no sympathy whatsoeverfor the women harmed by Planned Parenthood. Tell him that you are praying for him and that Missouri—and the nation—is grateful for his integrity and courage in protecting innocent human life, in the midst of malicious assaults on his character.

You can contact Dr. Williams here:

Misdirection #2—Kanye West has it right this time and the abortion industry is panicking. According to published reports, during an interview with US radio host Big Boi, West said: “We’re [black Americans] brainwashed out here, bro. Come on, man. This is a free man talking . . . . Democrats had us voting for Democrats with food stamps for years. What are you talking about guns in the 80s, taking the fathers out the home, Plan B, lowering our votes, making us abort children.” In typical fashion, the abortion industry pretty much ignored the point he was making and seized on his inclusion of Plan B in his statement. The company that makes Plan B said, “Plan B helps prevent pregnancy before it starts by delaying ovulation. Plan B is not an abortion pill—it will not harm an existing pregnancy and it will not be effective if a woman is already pregnant.” This, of course, is said hoping people will not question what is meant by “pregnancy.” In these statements, the industry equates “pregnancy” with “implantation.” We know of course, that pregnancy really begins at fertilization and that Plan B can prevent implantation of the already created human being—causing his or her death. Plan B can kill babies just like the oral contraceptive and other birth control products can. But, once again, rather than addressing the real charge of Kanye West—that Democrats are trying to reduce the number of Blacks in the country—Planned Parenthood and the rest of the population control industry try to get everyone talking about something else—anything but the real truth.

Teenage girls who use birth control pills are more likely to cry, sleep too much and experience eating issues than their peers who don’t use oral contraceptives, according to a recent study published in the medical journal JAMA Psychiatry. Research has shown that adolescents who use birth control pills are more prone to be at risk for depression in adulthood—regardless of whether they continue taking the pills when they get older. Investigators at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, University Medical Center Groningen and Leiden University Medical Center said: “Ours is the first study of this scale to dive deep into the more subtle mood symptoms that occur much more commonly than a depression episode but impact quality of life and are worrying to girls, women and their families.” Researchers found that 16-year-old girls on birth control pills reported more crying, more sleeping and more eating problems than girls who weren’t on the pill, although the symptoms diminish once they enter adulthood.

In other news, the coloring contest being run by the Culture of Life Studies Program in cooperation with Holy Heroes ends tonight, November 1, 2019, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific time. You can find out details about the Coloring Contest here.

CLSP is also running the CLSP 2019 Pro-Life Essay Contest in cooperation with the Institute for Excellence in Writing. The essay contest offers students in grades 3-12 the chance to express their pro-life beliefs and win over $1700 in prizes (including cash and pro-life gear)! The deadline for the essay contest is December 6, 2019, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific time. You can find out all the details about the Essay Contest here. If you have any questions on either of these contests, contact Mary Flores at mflores@cultureoflifestudies.com.

Please continue to pray for all involved in the court cases that have emerged since pro-lifers documented conclusive evidence that Planned Parenthood has been involved in the gruesome and illegal business of selling baby body parts from dead, and living, victims of abortion.

ALL in the News – Judie Commends Fr. Morey; MBW has a “Beautiful Mission”

This week, Judie Brown released a statement commending Fr. Robert E. Morey, who refused to give former vice president Joe Biden Holy Communion. American Life League has always called for priests and bishops to exercise their right to refuse communion to those who publicly renounce the Church. In an article surrounding the Biden situation, PJ Media cites an ALL article, which calls for priests and bishops to excommunicate Catholics who disgrace God and the Church.

The Marian Blue Wave continues to spread across the world. This week, Judie announced a renewed goal for the program with hopes to reach 5,000 commitments by November 30. The Catholic site Aleteia published an article highlighting the Marian Blue Wave as a new campaign with a “beautiful mission.” The article was reprinted on the site Lebanon News Network

Judie’s weekly commentaries continue to be featured as a column on Renew America. This week, her Tuesday commentary, Demonizing pregnancy, appeared on the site’s front page.

Jim Sedlak’s Pro-Life Activism from Creation to Death is a weekly talk-radio program on the Radio Maria USA network.  The show can be heard live every Friday at noon (Eastern Time) and is repeated on Saturdays (10 PM).

Video of the Week – Marian Blue Wave Excerpt: Miracles Happen When We Ask for Mary’s Help

National Director Emeritus of STOPP International, Rita Diller, describes the miracles through pro-life activists who bring Jesus to Planned Parenthood through Mary.

Action Item of the Week – Join the growing list of people who are saying a MBW Rosary a week

On Monday, October 7, American Life League launched The Marian Blue Wave. In just three weeks, over 2,000 individuals and groups have committed to saying a Rosary a week for the end of abortion and the closing of every Planned Parenthood facility in the country. This week, ALL sent the following request to all those who are already participating in the Marian Blue Wave. It contains action items which we ask all our Pro-Life This Week readers to also take—even if you have not signed up for the MBW yet:

Thank for joining the Marian Blue WaveThousands of people in 26 different countries have pledged to say a weekly Rosary for the specific intention of ending abortion and shutting down every Planned Parenthood facility in the United States. We are absolutely stunned by the overwhelming support from Catholics and Christians all over the world, but we still need your help.

We blew past our original goal of 1,000 participants in a week, and we want to do it again! Our new goal is to get 5,000 people committed to a Rosary a week by November 30. But we can only do it with your help.

We need you to share the Marian Blue Wave with as many friends and family as you can

Here are some ways to spread the word:

We praise the Blessed Mother for her intercession because we know that she is touching the hearts of people all over the world—people who know that the Rosary is our best tool in ending the grisly work of the culture of death.

We thank Mary for her intercession and encourage you—our fellow pro-lifers—to spread the Marian Blue Wave throughout your parishes and local outreach groups. We cannot do this without you.

Please join the Marian Blue Wave, and ask your friends and family to also join—TODAY!

Pro-life Social Media – “Uneducated Failure” of a Priest Would Give Communion to Obstinate Grave Sinner

Canon 915: those who have been excommunicated or interdicted after the imposition or declaration of the penalty and others obstinately persevering in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to holy communion.

i.e. Joe Biden.

The former vice president and current presidential candidate is an advocate for the murder of pre-born children, and yet he continues to present himself for Holy Communion on a regular basis because in his words he is ‘a practicing Catholic.’ A priest in South Carolina, fulfilling his obligation to protect the Most Blessed Sacrament from sacrilege, refused communion to Biden. This gave Fr. James Martin the willies:

So we and other Catholic twitter users provided Fr. Martin with some clarity and direction:

Sadly, for some priests like Fr. Martin and Cardinal Dolan, Canon 915 is a merely a recommendation, not a rule.
