Planned Parenthood to Close 8 Facilities in the Midwest
Late last week, Planned Parenthood North Central States announced that it is planning on closing eight of its Midwest facilities located in Minnesota and Iowa.
The move comes in an attempt to “consolidate” Planned Parenthood’s efforts ahead of the looming budget cuts.
Seven of the facilities dispense contraceptives, sex education, and give abortion referrals, while one of the locations is Iowa’s sole surgical abortion facility.
The following locations are set to close:
- Ames Health Center (Ames, Iowa)
- Alexandria Health Center (Alexandria, Minnesota)
- Apple Valley Health Center (Apple Valley, Minnesota)
- Bemidji Health Center (Bemidji, Minnesota)
- Cedar Rapids Health Center (Cedar Rapids, Iowa)
- Richfield Health Center (Richfield, Minnesota)
- Sioux City Health Center (Sioux City, Iowa)
- Urbandale Health Center (Urbandale, Iowa)
According to Axios, PPNCS will also lay off 66 staff members and reassign 37 others within Planned Parenthood.
The looming budget cuts include the possible Medicaid cuts that currently sit in the Senate. If passed, the cuts will deny Medicaid reimbursements to Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers except in the cases of rape, incest, or mother’s health.
American Life League national director Katie Brown Xavios has been critical of the budget cuts, as they will still allow for PP to receive federal funds for some abortions. In a statement to the media, Xavios stated:
Give Planned Parenthood an inch, and it will take a mile. If the exceptions are the only way Planned Parenthood will get paid, you better believe that every abortion will now become a life-or-death situation so that Planned Parenthood ensures that it will get its money.
This exception clause will still allow for the murder of millions, and with a save-some-not-save-all mentality we will never see the total protection of preborn children. If they can justify the murder of one baby, they can justify the murder of many. As pro-life advocates, we must set the bar higher.
Pray with us that additional facilities close so that we can finally stop the scourge of abortion in our nation.
Charity Watchlist Update: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Promotes IVF through Its Fertility Clinic
American Life League researchers reviewed St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (currently in the red section of our Charity Watchlist) to determine if there are any updates or changes to the organization’s position on life issues. Unfortunately, St. Jude has only expanded its support for anti-life and family practices in the past year through its support of IVF and surrogacy.
We found that St. Jude has a fertility clinic for its current and past patients struggling with infertility. St. Jude states on its clinic’s website that the children’s cancer hospital “covers the cost of collecting eggs or sperm and storing samples until patients reach age 35.” This is also called cryopreservation, and it is not approved by the Catholic Church as a morally licit method to conceive a child due to the complete absence of the marital act between the couple and because it often results in IVF and other artificial reproductive technologies.
In addition to its statement on cryopreservation, St. Jude provides a fertility flyer from Progyny insurance, showing that if one has a health plan compatible with St. Jude, the person will receive Progyny’s benefits covering costs for IVF, frozen embryo transfer, surrogacy, and intrauterine insemination. St. Jude’s website for teens and 20-year-olds also lists information on IVF; egg, sperm, and embryo donations; and surrogacy as options should one struggle with infertility (mind you, adoption was listed on the bottom of these “options”).
ALL is calling on St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to stop supporting and actively promoting these deadly, costly, and unethical artificial reproductive technologies to patients struggling with infertility. Infertility is an enormous crossmany couples endure, and this problem must be recognized, addressed, and treated with compassion and mindfulness by medical professionals (as is being done through techniques like NaProTechnology). IVF destroys the lives of human embryos to find a “perfect” or “successful” embryo, while it, along with other forms of ART, separates the marital act from the couple.
This current finding further supports why St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is not worthy of pro-life support, despite many of the good works it does for cancer patients and their families. We suggest supporting your local children’s cancer hospital, the Children’s Cancer Research Fund, or Alex’s Lemonade Stand instead.

ALL in the News
Katie Brown Xavios, ALL’s national director, was asked to comment on a story by Just the News regarding President Trump’s DOJ dismissing the abortion pill. Xavios’ comment can be seen in the article published last week.
Xavios’ comment on the “Big, Beautiful Bill” was published by several outlets, including LifeSiteNews, The Christian Post, and Catholic News Agency.
Judie Brown was quoted by Catholic News Agency this week. Brown’s comments were used in an article covering the new president of the Pontifical Academy for Life, which she served on under two popes.
The bimonthly Wednesday STOPP Report was released this week. Read the full report here.
Susan Ciancio, editor of Celebrate Life Magazine and director of the Culture of Life Studies Program—ALL’s pro-life educational program for kids in pre-K-12th grade—wrote an article about a woman who built an altar to celebrate her abortion. It was published by LifeNews.
Twice a week, Judie’s commentaries are distributed to an expansive media list. The list contains over 100 media outlets such as Fox News, The Federalist, Breitbart, and The Daily Caller, among others. Judie’s commentaries are each featured on the front page of ALL.org.

Does IVF Violate Human Dignity? (brochure) Since in vitro fertilization helps infertile couples have biological children, it is often praised as a pro-life and pro-family form of procreative technology. Michelle Obama Forgets What a Uterus Is For
Supreme Court justice Ketanji Brown Jackson claimed she couldn’t define a woman because she lacked the credentials of a biologist. Don’t put her in the same podcast studio with Michelle Obama, then, because the former First Lady claims to understand the function of female reproduction. Her claim that to “produce life” is the least of what the uterus does is a symptom of the Marxist mind. Large families are a plague to elites like Obama who think a woman who marries and nourishes human life inside her during her reproductive years isn’t living to her full potential.
Michelle Obama just said that the least important thing a woman's reproductive system does is create life.

This monster is beyond evil! pic.twitter.com/K8XFaTY5nP
Saying stupid things doesn’t necessarily qualify as “beyond evil.” It just makes you sound like a fool.
That's the dumbest thing anyone has ever said 🙄

To be able to bring life into the world and nurse that life is pretty spectacular… only a woman can do that 💞
I'm sure "her" daughters are thrilled that their "mother" thinks they are the least important thing for "her" to have done with that reproductive system….

What a bizarre way to discuss women's health. I wonder if she is a good mother. She doesn't seem to have a nurturing bone in her body.
— CLM (@CindyLM1969) May 29, 2025
Does she not know the definition of ‘reproductive system’?
— America is Winning 🇺🇸 (@livingfreeUSA22) May 29, 2025
Wow, as a woman I couldn’t be more disgusted by this statement. Being able to produce life is a miracle.
— Lex (@LexLexlexiuh) May 29, 2025
Reproductive health should soley focus on the health of reproduction and call things for what they are …when they want to control or disable it, call it reproduction interference or birth restriction

She is awful.

The term “reproductive” is so sterile. Women bring forth life. Human existence depends on it. It is not a burden or superfluous. It’s awe inspiring.
Pregnancy definitely has its ups and downs. But you’ll be hard-pressed to find a sensible mother who regrets any moment of it.
