Colorado 7th Grader Barred from Reading Pro-Life Poem at School

A 7th grader from Drake Middle School in Jefferson County, Colorado, was barred from reading her pro-life poem to fellow classmates for a school assignment.Libs of TikTok exclusively shared the story via a YouTube video

The 7th grader was assigned by her teacher to write a poem about an issue she felt passionate about. The student chose to write about abortion. When it came time to present the poem to her class, the student’s teacher told her she would not be allowed to present it and even told her she would have to wait outside the classroom during the other presentations, though she later allowed the girl to remain in the classroom.

The student was told her poem was “too political” and would make the other students feel “unsafe.” However, poems from other students included topics such as immigration, LGBTQ rights, and racial issues. These poems were met with no objections from the teacher.

The student and her mother came forward this week with their story. Please share as far and wide as you can! The poem, which she reads in the video, is a beautiful display of love for life and the preborn.

A Message from ALL’s National Director, Katie Xavios, after Maternity Leave

Greetings, friends and supporters of American Life League! I’m writing to each of you after my first week back at ALL after maternity leave.

I’d like to introduce to you the newest American Life League baby, Jude Anthony Xavios!

Baby Jude was born February 20 and is named for St. Jude and my grandpa, Paul Anthony Brown, who cofounded ALL with my grandmother.

Embracing my vocation as a mother has been the most beautiful experience and gives me a renewed sense of purpose for what we do at ALL. If God calls us to it, motherhood is truly the most rewarding adventure we can take.  Motherhood requires every ounce of our being, but in the best way possible!

I want to make it my mission to remind people just how wonderful motherhood is. Through our work to educate at American Life League, I hope to inspire moms everywhere to embrace their vocation with their whole hearts.

Please pray for me as I return to work, baby in tow, and know of my prayers for you!

Planned Parenthood of Michigan Begs the State for More Money, While DOGE Investigates the Affiliate

Planned Parenthood of Michigan penned an open letter to Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer, pleading for a $5 million grant to help keep its facilities’ doors open.

Paula Thornton Greear, CEO of Planned Parenthood of Michigan, said her request is urgent and not unusual since Maine’s and Illinois’ governors have recently issued emergency funds to the respective Planned Parenthood affiliates in their states. While PPM lists cancer screenings, STI tests, and other care as the reasons it needs its facilities to operate, Greear admits that abortion is a priority for emergency funding:

We have raised concerns about this trajectory for months. We need you to take immediate action to keep our doors open because the window to preserve access to reproductive health care in Michigan, including abortion, is rapidly closing. . . .

To keep our doors open and continue to provide care for Michiganders who have no other options, we need a one-time infusion of $5 million (emphasis in original).

Planned Parenthood of Michigan currently operates 10 brick-and-mortar facilities throughout the state, all of which commit abortions. PPM also operates a virtual center and utilizes the Planned Parenthood Direct App to commit abortions virtually. While it may claim to be experiencing a financial struggle, PPM is continuing to earn its blood money from abortion, with or without its facilities. Given Governor Whitmer’s vocal and legislative support of abortion, it is likely that she will grant PPM its request. However, the true weight of this financial ask is clear: It is designed to fuel and expand the destruction of preborn children in the womb.

As PPM demands more money, the Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency (DOGE) just wrote a letter to this affiliate—among others—as part of an ongoing investigation into the organization’s use of government funds. The subcommittee is giving PPM until June 1 to respond with proper documents regarding its transfer of services and taxpayer funding. ALL will monitor this investigation and provide more updates as they arrive.

St. Carlo Acutis: Extraordinary in the Ordinary teaches high schoolers about the short yet impactful life of St. Carlo Acutis, the first millennial saint. Carlo is a phenomenal example to today’s teens, as he lived a life focused on God and on doing good for those around him. Not only did he use his exceptional computer skills to create a website cataloging the Catholic Church’s approved Eucharistic miracles, but he fed the poor, helped clothe the homeless, spoke in favor of chastity and against abortion, and he taught catechism classes to young people. Carlo’s life exemplifies how living an ordinary life focused on God and Church teachings can become extraordinary because of faith, love of Jesus in the Eucharist, and generosity toward others. Total Protection: Preborn Children & Politics is an informative brochure that helps pro-life people understand the truth that every preborn child is a human being. Each is a person and deserves total protection from society and from the law as well. Many of us, however, are often challenged when it comes to using this truth as a basis for public policy. We are told that we simply do not understand politics, that to seek protection for every baby is to be socially and politically irrelevant. Yet, what will happen to the pro-life movement if we divorce ourselves from the truth? This brochure explains. SHOP NOW

‘Momma’s Got You’: Viral Video of Pregnancy Test Tells Us What Frightened New Moms Really Need

We’re not sure about the full story behind this clip. The original post shares a home video of a young woman holding a pregnancy test. Seeing the results, she begins to cry. She calls to her mother, who comes right away and comforts her. We can presume the new mom assumed the test would positive; why else would someone want to record a negative one?

First pregnancies can be overwhelming, especially if they’re unexpected. The young woman’s body language makes that clear. What makes this moment so emotional isn’t the pregnancy test itself. It is the compassion the young woman’s mother shows for a daughter whose life has changed forever.

. . . he said hey your mom thinks you’re pregnant and I said I am, he almost drove off the side of the road. My daughter is now 30 years old, a homeowner, married, and a licensed social worker. She saved me life.

Even though an unexpected pregnancy can be scary, knowing that “Momma’s got you” helps assuage some of those fears.
