Pro-Life This Week – March 20, 2020

Week in Review – Pro-aborts and Coronavirus

Last Saturday, the United States Surgeon General, Jerome Adams, tweeted: “Hospital & healthcare systems, PLEASE CONSIDER STOPPING ELECTIVE PROCEDURES until we can Flatten The Curve!” He warned that every elective surgery could spread coronavirus within the facility, use up protective medical gear as public officials worry about shortages and burden a hospital workforce who “may be needed” to respond to COVID-19.

Pro-lifers immediately realized that abortions have always been recognized as an “elective surgery.” Would the abortion industry recognize that surgical abortions could contribute to the problems enumerated by the Surgeon General and stop all surgical abortions until the current crisis has passed? Of course not. Perhaps the most direct response came from Planned Parenthood of Illinois. It announced that it would temporarily close 11 of its 17 facilities. Predictably, it kept open all five of its surgical abortion facilities in the state and the sixth one commits medication abortions. While saying it is taking the action to reduce the impact of COVID-19, PPIL completely rejected the Surgeon General’s request to stop elective surgery.

At a time when restaurants in many states in this country cannot sit more than 10 people at a time, and meetings with more than 10 people are being prohibited, the Illinois affiliate of the nation’s largest abortion chain sees no problem in cramming its staff and its customers from around the state into just six buildings—all still doing the elective procedures that the Surgeon General warns could help spread COVID-19 and/or use up valuable resources.

To give cover to the abortion industry, the (pro-abortion) American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) issued a statement that “To the extent that hospital systems or ambulatory surgical facilities are categorizing procedures that can be delayed during the COVID-19 pandemic, abortion should not be categorized as such a procedure. Abortion is an essential component of comprehensive health care.” So, abortion went from being an “elective” procedure to being an “essential” procedure.

In Massachusetts, the governor and the state Department of Health picked up on this change and issued the following statement: “DPH defines nonessential, elective invasive procedures as procedures that are scheduled in advance because the procedure does not involve a medical emergency; provided, however, that terminating a pregnancy is not considered a nonessential, elective invasive procedure for the purpose of this guidance.”

As the medical and political communities, as well as mainstream media, are seemingly tripping all over themselves trying to be the ones who most defend the abortion industry, Judie Brown, president of American Life League, issued a statement that read, in part: “Not a word has been uttered about calling on abortion mills to end the killing, and it is doubtful that such a request will be made. As many businesses suffer to stay afloat, let it be known that abortion mills are functioning with business as usual. Such callous disregard for innocent human beings, not to mention those vulnerable during this time of national crisis, is demonic.”

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

Operation Rescue reported yesterday that three abortionists, including two who do abortions at Planned Parenthood facilities, are now self-quarantined with symptoms of the coronavirus. We wonder how many people they infected before they stayed home.

If you have a Planned Parenthood, or other abortion facility, in your area, contact your local health department and ask why it has not been closed down—since it is still doing “elective surgeries” and putting people at risk.

You can find contact information for your local health offices here.

On March 19, Judie Brown released a statement in response to the recent American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) press release calling for abortion access amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

Judie’s weekly commentaries continue to be featured as a column on Renew America.

Video of the Week – The ‘Right to Terminate a Pregnancy’ is a Lie

The right to ‘terminate a pregnancy’ isn’t what abortion advocates are fighting for. They demand the inevitable result of a ‘termination’ no matter how the baby comes out.

Action Item of the Week – Fight the COVID-19 with prayer

As the United States is facing the current threat of the COVID-19 virus, no one knows how powerful this virus is or exactly what dangers it poses. What is becoming clear is that, despite the efforts of millions of ordinary citizens to make sacrifices and forgo normal activities, the devil is inspiring his minions to continue to kill God’s children.

Imagine a scenario when all God-fearing men and women are doing their best to protect their fellow human beings, even as the youngest of our species are being slaughtered in facilities protected by our elected officials and their medical cohorts.

We need God’s help. We encourage you to pray, in your own way, to ask our heavenly Father to intervene and put an end to this pandemic.

Both President Trump and Pope Francis prayed last Sunday and the Knights of Columbus adapted the following from Pope Francis’ Prayer for Protection in Time of Pandemic:

O Mary, you always brighten our path as a sign of salvation and of hope.

We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who, at the Cross, took part in Jesus’ pain while remaining steadfast in faith.

O loving Mother, you know what we need, and we are confident you will provide for us as at Cana in Galilee.

Intercede for us with your Son Jesus, the Divine Physician, for those who have fallen ill, for those who are vulnerable, and for those who have died.

Intercede also for those charged with protecting the health and safety of others and for those who are tending to the sick and seeking a cure.

Help us, O Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who took upon Himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows, so as to lead us, through the Cross, to the glory of the Resurrection.

Amen.

Under thy protection we seek refuge, O Holy Mother of God. In our needs, despise not our petitions, but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.

Pro-life Social Media – YouTube Restricts ALL Report on Planned Parenthood’s Sex Programming

YouTube is no stranger to controversy of late, having been caught demonetizing and restricting pro-life content. In 2008 YouTube removed, then restored, our own report on Planned Parenthood’s advertisement  glorifying casual sex aboard a commercial flight.  Planned Parenthood’s ad was deemed safe viewing according to Youtube’s standards. Our criticism of the ad was not.

This week, our most controversial report, Hooking Kids on Sex, has finally been flagged by YouTube as ‘age-restricted’ . . . eight years after its release! Over the past few months YouTube has been tightening restrictions regarding content that might land in front of children’s eyes. American Life League has never labeled its video content as safe for kids because much of our content is about the violence committed against them. Planned Parenthood either kills them before they’re born, or kills their innocence through classroom sex programming.

It’s amusing that YouTube feels it has to tell us our video isn’t appropriate for young audiences. Not only does our video begin with a ‘Not Safe for Kids’ warning, but the host, Michael Hichborn, literally says, ‘Do not let your children watch this episode of the American Life League Report.’

The video explains Planned Parenthood’s method of grooming children for promiscuity. Cartoon depictions of sexual intercourse and masturbation doesn’t seem to phase YouTube. So what does?

Sex toys are inappropriate for kids according to YouTube. Sex toys are totally appropriate for kids according to sex educators

While we appreciate YouTube’s increasing standards for protecting children against adult content, it isn’t a parent. Mom and Dad need to restrict their child’s online consumption, especially when it comes to social media and online video. The best filter isn’t a YouTube algorithm. It’s a responsible grown-up.
