Planned Parenthood Bullies Force Grand Jury to Disband

WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 5, 2008) – "Planned Parenthood manipulated the Kansas judicial system and bypassed the rule of law,” said Andrew Flusche, American Life League’s staff attorney. “Thousands of citizens demanded that Planned Parenthood of Overland Park be investigated for criminal wrongdoing and our government has failed them.”

Flusche was referring to the grand jury in Olathe, Kansas being disbanded. The grand jury was empanelled to investigate Planned Parenthood on seven allegations of criminal misconduct by a petition of 6,400 Kansas citizens.

“The grand jury was tainted and compromised throughout its entire session,” Flusche continued. “Planned Parenthood refused to comply with the grand jury’s investigation, even after they subpoenaed medical records. When Planned Parenthood’s lawyers convinced the judge it should only supply the grand jury with a spreadsheet summary, the grand jury apparently became discouraged and gave up. Medical records, routinely used in criminal and civil cases, can easily be wiped of patient-identifying information. But apparently Planned Parenthood operates outside the law.”

Flusche concluded, “Planned Parenthood is claiming victory here. However, rather than dealing a blow to the pro-life cause, the real victim here is American jurisprudence.”
