Obama to Elderly: Die

Washington, D.C. (26 June 2009) – President Barack Obama laid out a new plan for the country’s senior citizens Wednesday.

During ABC News’ town-hall event on “Obama care,” the president suggested eliminating or withholding treatment from senior citizens who would not “benefit” from health care.

“I’m astonished, but not surprised,” said Shaun Kenney, executive director of American Life League.

The Los Angeles Times reports:

President Obama suggested at a town hall event Wednesday night that one way to shave medical costs is to stop expensive and ultimately futile procedures performed on people who are about to die and don't stand to gain from the extra care… He added: "Maybe you're better off not having the surgery, but taking the painkiller.”

Intending to combat fears of medical rationing while attempting to explain how the country will pay for the massive government undertaking, the president instead gave one of his most candid speeches yet on his nationalized, government-imposed health-care plan.

“As with abortion, the radicals in Washington have a simple way to eliminate cost – eliminate people,” said Kenney. “Senior citizens deserve treatment, not euthanasia. The Obama health-care ethic smacks of a radical ideology America’s senior citizens fought during World War II.  Will that same generation who risked their lives fighting Europe's radical ideologies end their lives struggling to defend themselves against the same radicalism at home?"
