Obama SCOTUS Nominee will Refocus Personhood Fight As Souter Retires

Washington, D.C. (01 May 2009) – President Barack Obama will make his first nomination to the United States Supreme Court as Justice David Souter announced his imminent retirement in June. American Life League’s Judie Brown issued the following statement:

“As the most extreme pro-abortion president in the history of the United States, President Obama has spent nearly all of his first hundred days in office destroying any protection for innocent preborn children.

"With his first appointment to the Supreme Court, President Obama may now have an opportunity to leave his bloodstained mark on the United States Constitution. We hope and pray President Obama will nominate someone dedicated to the noble vision of our founding fathers – a vision that embraces life and personhood for all human beings.

"However, we are prepared to fight the appointment of any nominee whose opinions are consistent with President Obama’s track record of overt hostility toward the human personhood of those weakest of Americans – the preborn child.

"American Life League has and will continue to fight the radical agenda of the current presidential administration – from the appointment of such pro-abortion operatives as new Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, to the infiltration of our Catholic educational institutions as President Obama prepares to give the commencement address at the University of Notre Dame.”

American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to death.  For more information or press inquiries, please contact Katie Walker at 540.659.4942.
