Judie Brown Speaks Out on Dr. Wen’s Firing from Planned Parenthood

For Immediate Release

Fredericksburg, VA (July 17, 2019)– American Life League president, Judie Brown, issued the following statement regarding Dr. Leana Wen’s dismissal from Planned Parenthood:

Dr. Leana Wen, meet Pamela Maraldo.

There are striking similarities between the last two healthcare professionals who occupied the office of president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

Pamela Maraldo, RN, became president of PPFA in 1993, and she immediately began an effort to move Planned Parenthood into the mainstream of national healthcare. She developed a “Reinvention Plan” for the organization, but met internal opposition and was given a no-confidence vote by the PPFA Board in 1995 and left the organization.

Dr. Leana Wen took office as president of PPFA in November 2018. She was trumpeted as the first doctor to lead Planned Parenthood since Dr. Alan Guttmacher in the 1970s. Dr. Wen came into Planned Parenthood looking to move Planned Parenthood out of the political arena and into actual healthcare. She lasted only eight months. In her statement following her firing, Dr. Wen said, in part, “As a physician and public health leader, I came to Planned Parenthood to lead a national health care organization that provides essential primary and preventive care to millions of underserved women and families.”

What Wen discovered in 2019 is the same thing Maraldo realized in 1995. Planned Parenthood is not now, nor has it ever been, a healthcare organization.

Planned Parenthood is an organization established to promote the Humanist religion, to lead our young people to hell, and to make a lot of money along the way so it can buy influence with politicians and media.

On September 26, 2018, when it was announced that Dr. Leana Wen was to become the new president of Planned Parenthood, we wrote:

Back in the 90s, when Wen’s family was just settling in California after fleeing China, Pamela Maraldo knew the history of the organization, tried to change it, and quickly left. We hope that when Dr, Wen realizes the true nature of the organization, she will not compromise her compassion for patients that she showed in the ER the day of the Boston marathon bombings. We hope she will stay true to her TED talk and her book. To do that, she will have to make an early exit from Planned Parenthood, as Maraldo did.

We pray for Dr. Wen as she is about to enter the devil’s lair.

The prayers of our supporters worked.

Congratulations Dr. Wen, you’re out of the devil’s lair. We wish you a long and rewarding career in real medicine.

American Life League is the nation’s oldest grassroots, Catholic, pro-life organization. Its president, Judie Brown, has led the organization since its 1979 beginning. She has served three terms on the Pontifical Academy for Life—appointed twice by Pope John Paul II and again by Pope Benedict XVI.
