ALL to Join Pro-Life Teachers, Parents and Students to Protest NEA’s Pro-Abortion Agenda

Washington, D.C. (30 June 2008) – Pro-life teachers, students and parents will assemble outside the National Education Association’s convention at the Washington Convention Center July 2 to demand that the NEA stop supporting pro-abortion activists and the largest abortion provider in the country.

Pro-life leaders, including Jim Sedlak, vice president of American Life League, will come together at a 10:30 a.m. press conference to condemn NEA’s support for NARAL Pro-Choice America, the National Organization for Women and Planned Parenthood.

“I am outraged,” Sedlak said, “that the NEA should condone the programs of Planned Parenthood, the largest killer of future students in the country.”

Along with the protest and press conference at the convention in Washington, D.C., pro-life NEA members around the nation will hold simultaneous protests from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at NEA affiliate offices in every time zone.

A press release from Pro-Life Educators and Students challenges pro-life students and teachers to “help repeal NEA’s obnoxious ‘Reproductive Freedom’ resolution and policy statements regarding issues like Roe v. Wade. Let’s restore good stewardship over our profession, our students, our union, and our dues monies. Reforming and rescuing the NEA is long overdue. We Christian and Pro-life NEA members can implement the necessary changes – from within.”

American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to death.
