ALL Remembers Terri Schiavo on the Fourth Anniversary of her Murder

Washington, D.C. (31 March 2009)American Life League president Judie Brown issued the following statement regarding the fourth anniversary of Terri Schiavo’s court-sanctioned murder by starvation and dehydration March 31, 2005:

"I’ll never forget that Holy Week four years ago – the year we followed Christ’s passion and death through Terri Schiavo’s excruciating suffering and death.

"Terri wasn’t some stranger dying in a hospital bed in Florida, Terri was our daughter, our sister, our friend. Through Terri’s disability, her strength, her will to live, her heartbreaking love for her family and friends, the world saw the barbaric lie of the 'vegetative state' myth.

"Terri wasn’t a 'vegetable' – how insulting and degrading! Terri was a beautiful young woman who changed the world. Terri exposed the ugly reality that human dignity and personhood are under attack from the first moment of a human being's life onward. Terri showed the world that the culture of death wasn’t satisfied with preying on preborn children – now it was hungry for the weak and defenseless outside the womb as well.

"As we again prepare to unite our sufferings to Christ’s during Holy Week, we are once again awed by the witness and testimony of Terri’s full and beautiful life and the passion and the suffering of her death. Her memory impels us, everyday, to stand against this regime of utilitarian humanism.

"Terri’s memory recommits us to standing, as Terri did, as a light for life and truth."

Terri Schiavo, 1963-2005 … for her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed we pray.
