ALL Continues to Support Current Wording of North Dakota Personhood Bill

Washington, D.C. (14 March 2009) – The following statement was issued by American Life League president Judie Brown, regarding recommended wording changes to the North Dakota Personhood Bill.

“Although there have been recent calls for changes in the wording of the North Dakota Personhood bill, our experts have concluded that the current wording of the bill is sound and we continue to support the bill, without changes.

"American Life League has been deeply involved with efforts to establish the legal recognition of personhood for preborn human beings. It has, among other efforts, supported the personhood initiative in Colorado, the personhood bill that passed the senate in Montana and testified on March 13 at the Personhood Bill hearings in Maryland.

"As the movement to establish personhood for preborn human beings begins to sweep across the nation, it is imperative that the wording in the bills protects all human beings. We believe the current wording of this bill does exactly that and we hope to see it passed.”

American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to death.  For more information or press inquiries, please contact Katie Walker at 540.659.4942.
