ALL asks Bush to declare Day of the Preborn

American Life League has launched a year-long petition campaign asking President Bush to officially declare March 25 as the Day of the Preborn, beginning with March 25, 2008. "Every human being's life begins at fertilization and the United States Constitution guarantees the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness," said Judie Brown, president of American Life League. "We are simply asking President Bush to do his part to help secure these rights that have been recklessly disregarded for the preborn."

Today's petition is the latest step in encouraging an official Day of the Preborn, which at least six other countries already recognize. The petition is available online at www.DayOfThePreborn.com. For Catholics and many other Christians the world over, March 25, the traditional Feast of the Annunciation, has been a day to celebrate the silent beginning of the life of Jesus Christ as a member of the human race. This date, according to Catholic tradition, is the day on which the angel Gabriel announced to a young virgin by the name of Mary that God wanted her to be the mother of His divine Son, Jesus Christ.

"March 25 has taken on an even greater significance for many of us because of the struggle we have had to endure over the past 34 years while trying to restore protection for every innocent preborn child," said Mrs. Brown. "Each preborn child is a miracle, a ma ifestation of God's love for all mankind."

The petition sets forth the basic principles upon which the pro-life movement is based upon. Along with the petition campaign, American Life League has asked supporters nationwide to join together in a special novena, setting aside nine days to pray especially for those preborn children in danger of being aborted.

"It is our prayer that this petition campaign will help more and more Americans to not only recognize the humanity of the preborn child in the womb, but to actively work to protect the rights of each and every child created in God's image and likeness," said Mrs. Brown.
