Supreme Court; Planned Parenthood; Sex Ed; and Independence Day

As we end this first full week since Justice Kennedy’s retirement from the Supreme Court, the pro-life world awaits the announcement from President Trump on who he will nominate to fill the vacancy. Fortunately, in this instance, we are awaiting just the name of which conservative individual President Trump will nominate. He is working from a list of 25 individuals, all of whom appear to be individuals who will apply the actual Constitution to decisions rather than trying to respond to popularity contests. The news media is trying to name the top candidates and pro-aborts are beginning to lambast each of those people. Hopefully, on Monday, July 9, we will know who the nominee is and then can begin to talk specifics. Until then, we pray for the president and those in the senate who must confirm the individual. We ask God to give them the courage to pick and confirm a candidate who will be good for America and good for the babies.

Planned Parenthood is not waiting for the nominee to be named. You see, Planned Parenthood actually thinks it runs this country. Any time it is turned back by the people, Planned Parenthood runs to the courts to have its wishes imposed. The Washington Examiner reporteda comment by Dawn Laguens, executive vice president at Planned Parenthood, demanding, “”The Senate must only confirm a justice who affirmatively declares that they believe the U.S. Constitution protects individual liberty and the right of all people to make personal decisions about their bodies and personal relationships — including the right to use contraception, the right to have an abortion, and the freedom to marry whom they choose.” When I was a young man working in the garment district of New York City, they had a word for this kind of demand—“chutzpah.”

In the battle over sexuality education in America, it comes as no real surprise that Planned Parenthood is suing the federal government because the current administration is pushing abstinence education for our young people. Planned Parenthood has always fought against programs that promote abstinence. The reason is simple. Young people who follow the virtue of chastity in their lives do not provide a single penny of income to Planned Parenthood. However, those who adopt Planned Parenthood’s free-sex lifestyle provide millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood. Patricia Bainbridge, a great pro-life speaker and researcher, who worked closely with Doug Scott at Life Decisions International, used to tell her audiences that “Chastity!” was the word Planned Parenthood executives yelled out whenever they stubbed their toe. After eight years of Obama pushing PP sex programs, it is refreshing to have an administration who cares more about our children than our money.

This week, our country celebrated our 142ndbirthday. It was a day to remember the courage of the men who committed treason by signing the Declaration of Independence. Contained in that document is the now-famous line, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” As we celebrate with our parades and fireworks and gatherings, let us never forget that the creation of our country came about because those who went before us saw the need for change and took the necessary action to make that change happen. Today, we live in a country that has seemingly lost its moral compass. We must not sit back and accept it. We need to work together to change things through prayer and action. While the answer in 1776 was armed insurrection, the answer in 2018 is a refusal to accept the direction in which our country is going. We must peacefully rise up and take our country back. It starts by not being afraid to speak out about the injustice. Then we must rally our friends and enemies to put their lives on hold and join in trying to make things better. It ends at the ballot box and the continuing focus of us not allowing our elected representatives to betray our God.
