Riddle or reality?

We all know that the Catholic Church is consistently attacked as being stuck in the dark ages because the Church refuses to recommend the use of condoms in preventing the spread of AIDS. However, a recent World Health Organization report makes it clear that once again, Catholic teaching is always beneficial to the body and soul of the human person.

"Data from the World Health Organization puts the figure for HIV infection in Swaziland 42.6% of the population. Only 5% of the population is Catholic. And in Botswana, where 37% of the adult population is HIV infected, only 4% of the population is Catholic. In Uganda, however, where 43% of the population is Catholic, the proportion of HIV infected adults is 4%."

In compiling these statistics, Australian bioethicist Amin Abboud told readers of the British Medical Journal that any change in the Catholic Church's position on condoms would be detrimental to Africa.
