Republican Wimps

USA Today reports that America is somewhat divided regarding where the act of abortion would stand in relationship to state laws if, in fact, the U. S. Supreme Court tossed Roe v. Wade.

While I am not holding my breath on that one, it does seem strange to me that some Republicans are concerned about an "abortion backlash" among voters if they actually act to do something substantively pro-life.

But you know, it is not surprising. Who was the first national figure, after all, to publicly state his opposition to the South Dakota ban on all medical and surgical abortions?  The most prominent of all Republicans, President George W. Bush.

Did I say wimp?
