I frequently recall Father Paul Marx telling audiences that abortion was but the tip of the proverbial iceberg. I must say, the most recent headlines from Great Britain make me wonder just how deep that iceberg goes and exactly when it will sink the entire planet.
Can you imagine anybody killing an embryonic child because preimplantation genetic diagnosis has revealed the possibility that the child will squint? That is precisely what the Bridge Center Family Clinic has been autorized to do. Doctors at the clinic have been given permission to "create a baby free from a genetic disorder which would have caused the child to have a severe squint."
Special order babies are becoming quite common. In fact one British expert suggests that "severe cosmetic conditions" will more routinely be a reason for weeding out certain embryos prior to implantation. One expert told the media that even on the subject of hair color, he would not be opposed to weeding out certain colors because "hair color can be a cause of bullying which can lead to suicide."
Oh my! As you can see, man has gone so far in his quest to replace God with himself that the end goal will perhaps be the extinction of the human race at man's own hand.
