The buzzard is a contemptible bird that preys on others for his food and for his entertainment. Webster also defines buzzard as a “contemptible or rapacious person.” In more ways than I can enumerate here, Planned Parenthood’s minions remind us of buzzards. Their philosophy revolves around a concept of freedom that is deadly. Further, they don’t care for those of us who fight for human dignity.
A writer for the Guttmacher Institute—the “research and policy organization committed to advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights” that was formerly affiliated with Planned Parenthood—recently opined, “Once we recognize the escalation of antiabortion strategies and goals, our next steps are clear. We must expand state protections wherever possible and support the people and infrastructure that have helped protect abortion care in the post-Dobbs landscape. Together, we can plant the seeds for our long-term vision—going beyond what Roe promised and finally guarantee abortion access for all.”
In the same way that a buzzard preys on those weaker than itself, Planned Parenthood does the same. Their targets are vulnerable mothers and their innocent babies. The only sort of entity that would strive for “abortion access for all” is one that is bloodthirsty and knows no bounds in the human cruelty arena.
At the same time, Planned Parenthood does its nefarious deeds with our tax dollars. Two years ago, Stop Planned Parenthood International’s then director Rita Diller, wrote:
Our legislators need to hear from all of us today a loud and clear message: No more taxpayer money for Planned Parenthood! Period! There should be no contingencies and no exceptions. Planned Parenthood is admittedly a systemically racist organization founded by eugenicist Margaret Sanger. Analysis of its financial reports and locations reveal that it is an organization that is not here to help the poor, as it likes to say, but to eliminate the children of the poor.
Today, Planned Parenthood continues to be subsidized by our tax dollars. In fact, more than a third of its income is provided by our government in the form of reimbursements for its deadly services, including 392,000 plus surgical and medical abortions. Of course, the additional millions of abortions Planned Parenthood provides by dispensing various birth control chemicals that also kill cannot be accounted for since nobody really knows that number.
But this is not about numbers; this is about human beings whose lives are taken every minute of every day because America has grown indifferent to this tragedy. Though, theologically, indifferentism is a sin against faith, in our morally numb culture, God is not a concern.
This apathy pleases the buzzards.
Organizations such as the Guttmacher Institute crow about escalating abortion numbers, but most Americans are oblivious to this human tragedy. I dare say that they do not consider the baby who dies, regardless of what sort of abortion is committed!
Research from the Charlotte Lozier Institute confirms this, reporting that nearly 97% of women “seeking help related to their pregnancy at Planned Parenthood were sold an abortion rather than given prenatal care, provided care for a miscarriage, or helped to make an adoption plan.” No wonder Planned Parenthood says their rate of abortions per customer is at an all-time high!
One wonders if such folks have left their moral compasses on the ambivalence highway.
The remedy to such antipathy resides in our ability to sound the alarm in a way that resonates in our families, our community, and among decision-makers. This means first and foremost making a clear distinction between the meaning of the word pro-life and the common theory.
The buzzards love the watering down of pro-life principle. They busily gnaw their way through the weak words as they expand their deadly agenda. The only way to stop this is to become totally, unabashedly pro-life without exception, without compromise, and most importantly with perseverance in prayer and action.
A first step would be to end the dole that feeds their appetite. This requires a rebuilding of pro-life priorities. Putting the babies first and the politics at the end of the line would be a miracle, but that is what is needed.
If I were to write a book entitled How to Starve the Buzzards, my first words would be Cut off the use of my tax dollars to feed them. Then we would level the playing field by exposing the horror and ending the compromise.
And in the process, boot the buzzards.
