Planned Parenthood is back in New Orleans. After the Gulf Coast affiliate shuttered its Louisiana clinics last year under what it called “political warfare” and “relentless political assaults,” the Great Plains affiliate has taken over the South Claiborne Avenue facility and reopened it for patients. While the organization claims it will not commit abortions in person or via telehealth for Louisiana patients—citing the state’s strong laws—it is still Planned Parenthood. Its primary services will be contraception and STI testing and treatment.

American Life League has long documented that contraception is not healthcare; it is an anti-life, anti-family tool that often fails and can act as an early abortifacient. High STI rates in Louisiana are tragic, but they do not justify handing women over to the nation’s largest abortion business under a different affiliate name.

Local officials are already praising the return as a “huge win” for “women’s health,” even as New Orleans faces budget pressures that may cut other health programs. Meanwhile, Governor Jeff Landry previously celebrated the closures, and Attorney General Liz Murrill has rightly called out the organization for building a business around death. Their opposition remains essential.

Opening-day appointments were fully booked, telehealth access continues, and leaders hope to expand further in the state. This reopening shows that Planned Parenthood never truly leaves; it rebrands, relocates, and waits for political openings.

Prayer and persistent local action closed the doors once. They can do it again. Contact your local officials, share the truth about Planned Parenthood’s real mission, and support the ongoing work to keep every one of its facilities closed. Every facility closed saves lives.

Planned Parenthood South Atlantic announced its disappointment on Monday after learning that a North Carolina endowment fund that provided $200,000 to PPSA’s teen parenting program will not renew its funding of the program.

The Adolescent Parenting Program was described by one newspaper as “focused on helping pregnant and parenting teens stay in school, connecting them with services in the community, and providing them with the education, support and resources to delay a second pregnancy until they are ready.” The article, along with several others, highlights a seemingly altruistic motivation on Planned Parenthood’s part by providing support and resources to teenage parents and their babies. While the New Hanover Community Endowment fund did not give a specific reason as to why it did not renew funding to PPSA’s program, PPSA said it is seeking new funding support through grants and donors. Considering this news, STOPP cannot help but wonder why the nation’s largest abortion organization wants to help teenage parents with their babies when the organization’s most lucrative “service” is murdering babies in the womb.

Many supporters and apologists for Planned Parenthood echo again and again that “Planned Parenthood does more than abortion.” There is a truth to this statement; Planned Parenthood not only destroys the bodies of preborn children through abortion, but it seeks to destroy the souls of its clients through its hedonistic view of sex. Its constant push on young people to have habitual sex with whomever, whenever, as long as they use contraception to “protect” themselves from disease and pregnancy, is the focus of its education. Additionally, Planned Parenthood does not encourage an abstinence-only approach to sex for anyone, let alone any reference to chastity, but rather provides the many options of birth control and then abortion if one becomes pregnant but was not intending it.

Just this week, Beth Ann Rosica wrote about Planned Parenthood Pennsylvania PAC’s recent email that both objects to Pennsylvania’s abstinence-focused sex-education in classrooms and shows its support for a recent proposal to drop abstinence from classroom sex education. A copy of the email in the article shows Planned Parenthood’s description of abstinence-focused sex education as “damaging . . . for young people.” Rosica rightly notes, “The fact that Planned Parenthood supports the new standards and the end run around the legislature should be concerning to parents who value their rights and the opportunity to discuss these highly personal and sensitive topics at home.”

Planned Parenthood’s “anything goes” approach to sex is nothing short of disturbing. We do hope New Hanover’s decision to defund Planned Parenthood South Atlantic was in the best interest of protecting teenagers from the insidious work of Planned Parenthood and that the organization does not receive another cent from the endowment fund going forward.
