Pro-Life This Week – October 16, 2020

Week in Review – What is really happening at the abortion center in Walnut Creek?

This year, 2020, is a time of protests and violence in the United States—especially on the West Coast. In the midst of all this, 40 Days for Life is conducting its semi-annual peaceful presence outside of abortion facilities in the United States (and worldwide). Those who participate in 40 Days must sign a “no violence” pledge. Despite this, members of 40 Days outside the racist Planned Parenthood facility in Walnut Creek, California, have been the target of intense harassment

One of the participants sent us an e-mail describing what is happening: “We are taunted, mocked, and harassed almost daily while we pray peacefully in front of our local abortion facility and offer free resources and support to women. Our pictures are being taken, posted on antifa like websites in our area, asking people to try and identify us so that we can be harassed at home and work. We are literally on the ‘front lines’ out there, on the sidewalk. PLEASE PRAY FOR US.  NEVER IN MY 4-5 YEARS OF DOING THIS HAS THE CLIMATE AGAINST US BEEN SO HATEFUL. It is to the point where we do not feel safe, yet we will continue on knowing we are doing Christ’s work in promoting and praying for life.

When local police refused to get involved in the situation, 40 Days’ national office hired a third-party security firm, Off Duty Officers, to protect the peaceful pro-lifers in front of the Planned Parenthood killing center. This week, the Off Duty Officers found it necessary to take action. As Shawn Carney, President/CEO of 40 Days for Life, described in his statement, “When activists using Antifa-style tactics (who previously physically threatened and blew marijuana in our volunteers’ faces) arrived and antagonized the Off Duty Officers, the professional guards took protective action, including using mace against the hostile individuals. Contrary to a video that captured parts of the occurrence and has since been widely circulated on social media, 40 Days for Life volunteers had no part in the incident. Rather, the tactics were used solely at the discretion of the third-party security team.”

We applaud the efforts of the 40 Days for Life team in recognizing the seriousness of the situation in Walnut Creek and taking the necessary steps to protect the peaceful pro-lifers who are there to pray for the mothers, the fathers, the babies, and all involved in the abortions. We commend, especially, the pro-lifers who, despite the situation, made sure to let us know that, although they “do not feel safe, yet we will continue on knowing we are doing Christ’s work in promoting and praying for life.”

We ask all our readers to pray for all involved in peaceful, prayerful witness outside of the nation’s abortuaries, including all Planned Parenthood locations.

In other matters this week, South Carolina has been trying to stop all Medicaid funds from going to the two racist Planned Parenthood clinics in the state since 2018—when Governor McMaster issued an executive order banning the funding. That order was the subject of a lawsuit, and the 4th Circuit Court ruled South Carolina officials cannot stop Medicaid recipients from using their coverage to seek care at Planned Parenthood clinics. That decision was appealed to the Supreme Court of the United States and, this week, in a two-word finding, SCOTUS simply said, “Petition Denied.” An article in The State reported that “The case will likely go now back to the 4th Circuit . . . Any final resolution could be years off.”

South Carolina’s Planned Parenthood clinics are run by its Planned Parenthood South Atlantic affiliate. PPSA issued a statement on June 9, 2020, that included an admission that “Planned Parenthood South Atlantic is reckoning with our own complicity in white supremacy and systemic racism.”

Video of the Week – Joe Biden’s charitable giving, or lack thereof.

Fr. Edward Meeks says we’re Catholics first and Americans second. Fr. Edward is pastor of Christ the King parish in Towson, Maryland. On October 11, his homily focused on the anti-Catholicism of the Democratic candidates for president and vice president and the powerful dark forces in government and big tech that seek to silence the Church.

Action Item of the Week – Eighteen days remain

It has been a year-long effort, and the formal Election Day is just 18 days from now—Tuesday, November 3. Of course, in many states, the election is already going on. With absentee votes by mail and in-person advance voting, millions of votes have already been cast.

This is a time for two specific actions:

First: If you know anyone who has not yet voted, make sure he or she is aware of how to cast their ballot and implore them to vote pro-life. In this year’s election, the political parties and their candidates have made everything crystal clear.

Reading the Democrat platform, it specifically supports abortion and women’s supposed right to “control their own body.” Even though the baby killed through abortion is a separate body— created by God—not part of the woman’s body.

The Republican platform is filled with outright support for every human being’s life. It is just as clear about being pro-life.

Second: PRAY. With all the bluster of all the political candidates, the truth is . . . God is still in charge. Faithful prayer asking Him to use this election to move America in the direction of establishing a Culture of Life will have an effect.

Faithful Christians should especially pray the prayer Jesus gave us—the Our Father.

When reciting that prayer, let us pay special attention to the words, “Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.”

We know that God loves us. We know that God wants all of us to one day be with Him in Heaven. To attain that goal, we MUST pay attention and act in accordance with God’s will.

God does not create new human beings just so we can kill them. We must understand that “when God wants something done, he creates a child . . . and waits.”

Every abortion kills a child created by God for a specific purpose, and when we kill that child, we are saying NO to God.

This election is the time to take sides. Abortion is NOT AN ISSUE. It is life and death. When you vote to protect the lives of God’s children, He will smile. Let us all make God smile on November 3.

Pro-life Social Media – SCOTUS Hearings Hot-Mic: Senator Says Barrett’s Pro-Life Convictions are ‘Deeply Personal’

Imagine being so wedded to advancing abortion policy that any effort to dismantle systemic murder is viewed as “deeply personal.” Can’t the same be said for abortion violence advocates?

During a break at Thursday’s SCOTUS confirmation hearings, Senator Diane Feinstein could be heard on a hot-mic saying, “She’s been pro-life for a long time. So I suspect with her, it is deeply personal and comes with her religion.”

While being pro-life naturally comes with being Catholic, do pro-aborts ever conceive that some people can be against abortion violence because it’s murdering a preborn child?

We’re talking about genuine Catholicism—not the Joe Biden kind, where faith is stuffed in your pocket while serving in the Senate for 36 years.

The science of human embryology ought to direct a person to the pro-life position. It takes faith in a radical ideology to hold a pro-abortion position.
