Pro-Life This Week – February 14, 2020

Week in Review – President’s budget; Babies buried; Abortion Pill Rescue; State Politics

Life Site News reported this week that “The White House submitted its $4.89 trillion annual budget proposal to Congress Monday, laying out a plan that contains numerous spending cuts, including defunding abortion providers such as Planned Parenthood.

“The Budget prioritizes the value of human life by ensuring that Federal funding does not support abortions,” the plan explains. “The Budget proposes to prohibit Federal funding, such as in the Title X Family Planning and Medicaid programs, for certain entities that provide abortion services. The Budget also protects conscience rights, prohibits coercion in healthcare, and allows private parties to enforce such rights in Federal court. With these protections, the Administration will continue to ensure robust protection of conscience rights and religious liberty.”

We are all aware that the submission of the budget by the president is just the beginning of a long process that will take many months to complete. But, the inclusion of these proposals in the president’s budget is a major change to what has happened in the past.

This week, the remains of 2,411 aborted babies were buried in Indiana. The bodies were found on property owned by former abortionist Ulrich Klopfer. Klopfer died last year and the fetal remains were discovered by family members who were cleaning out his property. They called the authorities. FOX2NOW in St. Louis reported that Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill held the burial at Southlawn Cemetery in South Bend and said, “Today, we finally memorialize the 2,411 unborn babies whose remains were senselessly hoarded by Dr. Ulrich Klopfer after he performed the abortions from 2000 to 2003. These babies deserved better than a cold, dark garage or the trunk of a car … keeping them together in rest, each of them connected by their common fate.” The burial plot was donated by the Palmer Funeral Home, and all the remains will be laid to rest in the same grave.

Abortions in the United States are being committed through the use of mifepristone (the “Abortion Pill”). By some estimates, the Abortion Pill is being used in 35-40 percent of all abortions in the US, and that number is growing. The Abortion Pill abortion is actually two pills. The first pill is taken to kill the baby and the second one it taken two to three days later to expel the dead baby from the woman’s body. The first pill works by not allowing progesterone, which the baby needs to live, to get to the baby. Pro-life physicians have developed an “Abortion Pill Reversal” procedure that floods the woman with progesterone and keeps the baby alive. A 2018 peer-reviewed study showed positive results: 64-68 percent of the pregnancies were saved through Abortion Pill Reversal; there was no increase in birth defects; the preterm delivery rate was lower than the general population. To be effective, the reversal procedure must be started as soon as possible after the abortion pill is taken. You can get help immediately by calling the 24/7 HELPLINE at (877) 558-0333. According to a report in PJ Media this week, “Democrats in Connecticut have floated the idea of placing a fee on the manufacture and distribution of insulin in the state.” At the same time, the Connecticut Democrats proposed giving Planned Parenthood an additional $2,400,000 to help it replace the Title X money PP refused. You can just picture the state campaign: “Support Planned Parenthood, buy insulin!”

ALL in the News – Judie Promotes New HALO Material; Jim Sedlak Hailed as an Expert on Planned Parenthood

This week, Judie Brown was quoted in an article promoting HALO’s (Healthcare Advocacy and Leadership Organization) newest document, “MAKING A DIFFERENCE, A Guide for Defending the Medically Vulnerable.” The article appeared on Standard Newswire and Christian News Wire.

Jim Sedlak was featured in a One News Now article as a Planned Parenthood expert. Sedlak exposes inconsistencies in reports from Planned Parenthood.

Judie’s weekly commentaries continue to be featured as a column on Renew America.

Jim Sedlak’s Pro-Life Activism from Creation to Death is a weekly talk-radio program on the Radio Maria USA network. The show can be heard live every Friday at noon (Eastern Time) and is repeated on Saturdays (10 PM).

Video of the Week – The photo by Swedish photojournalist, Lennart Nilsson, would become one of the most influential photos of the 20th century.

In April 1965, Life Magazine put on its cover an image of a living human fetus developing in the womb. The photo by Swedish photojournalist, Lennart Nilsson, would become one of the most influential photos of the 20th century.

An exhibit of his photography runs February through May in Vienna.

Action Item of the Week – Valentine’s Day from CLSP

Today is Valentine’s Day. Planned Parenthood is out there pushing its agenda of uninhibited sex —even for teens—and selling its “having sex” products.

The Culture of Life Studies Program is offering a tremendous counter-culture idea of how you can truly celebrate the day with your children.

Pro-life Social Media – Social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook aren’t fans of pro-life messaging. We saw this throughout 2019

Well, the photo-sharing service, Instagram, isn’t all that fond of our messages either, especially when we’re trying to educate a specific audience. We created a graphic profiling the case of a Girl Scout earning her Gold Award, Girl Scouts’ highest award, for her presentation on ending the stigma of abortion.

Abortion advocates’ reference to stigma is about the shame that comes naturally from killing your progeny. They’re trying to convince women that abortion is empowering, and the grief and shame they feel is just cultural. After all, if we’re not ashamed of a tooth extraction, why feel differently about a pregnancy extraction? In the case specific to our above graphic, NARAL, one of the nation’s largest abortion lobbying groups, cooperated with the Girl Scout to find post-abortive mothers willing to talk to her peers about the positive results from ending nascent human life.

Ultimately, Girl Scouts USA awarded the scout for her abortion-advocacy project. This contradicts the organization’s neutral claim.

So how did Instagram stifle our image?

Instagram catches content that appears to have too much blood in it. Ours was fake, yet IG’s algorithm doesn’t know that. Nevertheless, whatever IG determines to be graphic, it renders the hashtags useless, making the image itself unsearchable. It will only be visible to followers and visitors to your profile page.

So what can YOU do? Copy and share the image to your social networks. Let your friends and followers know the Girl Scouts’ position on abortion is NOT neutral.
