TO FEDERAL OFFICIALS: DO NOT CONDONE CHINA’S ONE CHILD POLICY

Andrew Flusche: "The Chinese government has a brutal history of
forcing women to abort their babies."

WASHINGTON, D.C. (4 April 2008) – "Federal officials must not condone China’s horrendous policy of forced abortions," said Andrew Flusche, staff attorney for American Life League."For this reason, we support the House bill to prohibit federal officials from attending the Olympic opening ceremonies in Beijing."

Flusche made these remarks in reference to H.R. 5668, entitled the Communist Chinese Olympic Accountability Act, which was introduced on April 1. The Act prohibits federal officials and employees from attending the opening ceremonies of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. The bill specifically cites China’s forced one child per family policy as one reason for the prohibition.

"The Chinese government has a brutal history of forcing women to abort their babies," continued Flusche.  "Everyone from both sides of the aisle can agree that this barbaric practice must end. It's horrific that any country would allow abortion at all, but forcing abortions falls to another level of evil."

Despite outspoken criticism, President Bush remains steadfast in his plans to attend the opening ceremonies this summer. Flusche remarked, "A truly pro-life president would do nothing that would ever lend a shred of support to abortion. President Bush must think babies' lives are less important than a sports match."
