The Pill Kills Marriage

Hormones in contraceptives linked to ‘divorce, poverty’

A study published in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B adds to mounting evidence that suggests hormones in contraceptive pills change desire in women–and their choice in a mate. That change of key chemical attractors may cause women and men to choose a mate with whom they are incompatible—contributing to divorce and fatherless homes. STOPP International, STOPP of Dallas, and the Catholic Pro-Life Committee of North Texas announced today that Dallas will host a “national seminar and nationwide witness” regarding the pill’s negative effect on marriage.

“The pill is marketed as sexual and economic freedom but a growing body of peer-reviewed research indicates contraceptives set women up for relationship disasters,” said Rita Diller, national director of Stop Planned Parenthood (STOPP) International. “The physical, psychological, and emotional damage that women suffer because of the pill has devastated the institution of marriage, leading to soaring divorce rates. That means fatherless homes— the greatest predictor of poverty in America.”

Father Daniel McCaffrey, internationally renowned expert on Humanae Vitae and natural family planning, will keynote the educational seminar to be held at 10 a.m. on June 4, 2011, at St. Patrick Parish Center, 9643 Ferndale, Dallas. The public is invited to register at prolifedallas.org or call 972-267-LIFE. A $10 fee includes lunch following the seminar at 1 p.m.

The public is also invited to the 8 a.m. Mass at St. Patrick Catholic Church and a peaceful public witness outside the Planned Parenthood abortion center on 7424 Greenville Avenue that precede the seminar.

“Due to the importance of the information,” STOPP will live-stream the conference nationwide at ThePillKills.org on Saturday, June 4, at 10 a.m. Central, 11 a.m. Eastern. Protests at Planned Parenthood abortion clinics across the country are planned for the same day. Clergy of all faiths and media are invited to attend without charge.
