Portland Pro-Lifers March on Development Commission; Fight Mega Planned Parenthood

Washington, D.C. (05 August 2008) – Fresh from its victory in pressuring a construction firm to pull out of a deal with Planned Parenthood, Precious Children of Portland will march on the Portland Development Commission's offices August 8 at noon, demanding rejection of Planned Parenthood's proposed mega-abortuary in one of the city's minority neighborhoods.

"The goal is for the people of Portland to say no to Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion chain in the country" said Bill Diss, leader of Precious Children. "We won't let Planned Parenthood kill thousands of babies at Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard."

The Planned Parenthood facility set to be built in North Portland provides the latest example of Planned Parenthood Federation of America's nationwide push for bigger abortion centers across the country.

Last year, in Aurora, Illinois, a Chicago suburb, similar controversy erupted when the community rose up to protest Planned Parenthood's deceptive building campaign there.

Precious Children will also protest the proposed center's targeting of the African-American community. The new abortion facility will move from a neighborhood with a black population of about one percent to a neighborhood with a black population of 43 percent.

Jim Sedlak, vice president of American Life League, said his organization is fighting Planned Parenthood's racist advances across the country and that the fight in Portland is of the utmost importance.

"It's time that people everywhere understand that Planned Parenthood is not good for any community," Sedlak said. "The opening of mega-abortuaries in minority areas demonstrates that Planned Parenthood is continuing the legacy of its founder, Margaret Sanger, who took pride in her talks given to the Ku Klux Klan."

American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to death.
