Planned Parenthood Feels Heat as ALL’s Map Room Celebrates One Year

Washington, D.C. (21 October 2008) – Across the country, 171 Planned Parenthoods face regularly scheduled protests, prayer crusades and sidewalk counseling tracked by American Life League's revolutionary Map Room.

Only one year after ALL launched the Map Room, the only site of its kind in the pro-life movement, scheduled protests outside Planned Parenthood facilities across the country have almost doubled to 234 protests at 171 Planned Parenthoods in 38 states.

"We're so excited to see this life-saving rise in protests," said Marie Hahnenberg, Map Room project manager and researcher for American Life League. "It is a great opportunity for pro-lifers to come together and fight Planned Parenthood on the front lines – right outside its facilities. This is where we make the greatest impact in the lives of individual mothers, fathers and preborn babies every day."

The Map Room launched in October 2007 to provide information and encourage people across the country to have a physical presence outside local Planned Parenthood businesses.

The protests listed on the map are coordinated at a local level. As ALL finds protests, they are added to the database. Users may also submit their own protests. The Map Room features interactive graphics and information for successful activism against Planned Parenthood.

As the national group focused on grassroots efforts to defeat Planned Parenthood, ALL recognizes the information presented will be helpful in defeating Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion chain.

"Today, one out of every four abortions occurs at a Planned Parenthood facility. It is killing our generation one child at a time," Hahnenberg said. "It is crucial to witness outside of Planned Parenthood clinics and I encourage all pro-lifers to take part in the fight to defeat Planned Parenthood and close down this multi-million dollar, baby-killing, racist organization," Hahnenberg said.
