Buffett gift to Gates Foundation raises new concerns

American Life League has issued the following statement in reaction to investor Warren Buffett's announcement that he will contribute much of his wealth to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation:

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has a well-documented history of giving grants to organizations such as the International Planned Parenthood Federation, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America and several Planned Parenthood affiliates.

Because of the foundation's longstanding support of anti-life groups, American Life League is extremely concerned about the announcement that Warren Buffett is giving the Gates foundation billions of dollars that are likely to be used to further spread the culture of death throughout the world.

American Life League’s president, Judie Brown, has long sought a personal meeting with Bill and Melinda Gates to explain the nature of Planned Parenthood’s work and why American Life League considers their foundation’s support of Planned Parenthood to be ill-conceived and wrong.

With the renewed attention on the Gates Foundation in the wake of this gift, Mrs. Brown is again requesting a meeting with one or more of the trustees of the foundation.
