American Life League Lauds Catholic Poverty Group for Withdrawing from United Way

WASHINGTON, D.C. (28 December 2010) – Catholic Community Services of Portland Oregon withdrew participation from the United Way on Archbishop Vlazney’s insistence, due to United Way’s funding of Planned Parenthood.

Judie Brown, President of American Life League praised the decision of Catholic Community Services and Archbishop Vlazney for standing in defense of preborn children:

“As we celebrate the birth of the Savior of mankind, we are elated that we can also celebrate Archbishop Vlazney and Catholic Community Services for their unwillingness to cooperate with an organization that funds Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion chain. The archbishop and this organization stand as a shining example to the entire Catholic Church, and all who live the Gospel of Life.

“In thanksgiving, American Life League will pray for all those involved in this decision as we pray for all of our leaders both secular and religious, in the hopes that we may soon see the Light of Christ scatter the darkness of this current Culture of Death.”
