ALL Vatican Reasserts ‘Unyielding Commitment’ to Human Personhood in Face of Obama Appointees

Washington, D.C. (15 April 2009) American Life League President Judie Brown issued the following statement today regarding the Vatican’s reported rejection of a string of pro-abortion appointees, including Caroline Kennedy, to the post of U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See.

“The Vatican continues to inspire us by its unwavering support for the dignity of the human person, a dignity under attack by the Obama administration’s unceasing pro-abortion activism. Caroline Kennedy may claim the label 'Catholic' but her actions, her ideology and her public support say otherwise.

"President Obama’s offer to send his pro-abortion envoys to Rome – the seat of the Catholic Church – is a mocking insult to the core values of Catholics worldwide, values the Obama administration is actively working against.

"There is something epic in this quiet struggle between the Holy See and the Obama administration. It is an echo of the battle between the Church and the tyrannical reign of moral relativism the Obama administration so unequivocally promotes.

"We are grateful for the Vatican’s leadership as we everyday do battle with the culture of death. Guided by Pope Benedict XVI, the Vatican has shown us, yet again, that charity, justice and courage are inseparable in the struggle to ‘restore all things in Christ’ in the face of institutionalized disdain for the sanctity of human life, of marriage, of family and of God Himself.”

American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to death.  For more information or press inquiries, please contact Katie Walker at 540.659.4942.
