This week, a documentary covering American Life League's Crusade for the Defense of Our Catholic Church's Summer Crusade for Life walks will be featured on EWTN. The video, Living Hope: Stories from the Crusade, focuses on the 12 Catholic college students who took to the streets of New York City to serve as living witnesses to the truth that one cannot be both Catholic and pro-abortion.
"We are extremely proud of the true dedication these young people displayed in their mission to spread the Gospel of Life," said Joseph Starrs, director of American Life League's Crusade for the Defense of Our Catholic Church. "They sacrificed their time and energy to speak up for the innocent babies who fall victim to abortion."
The 2005 edition of the Summer Crusade for Life consists of young people walking across different regions in the United States and spreading the simple, non-negotiable truth of the Catholic faith: You Can't be Catholic and Pro-Abortion.
Following the success of the 2004 walk, American Life League launched three walks this summer. These treks cover California, the Great Lakes region, and the Northeast. During the walks, the young Crusaders are speaking at Catholic churches, praying at abortion clinics, visiting the offices of known pro-abortion Catholic politicians, and encouraging the bishops in these states to end the ongoing scandal by enforcing Church law (Canon 915), which permits the Church to deny Holy Communion to those who "obstinately persist in manifest grave sin."
The documentary will air on Thursday, June 9 at 11:00 p.m.; Saturday, June 11 at 2:00 a.m.; and Thursday, June 16 at 2:00 p.m. (all times EDT).
Since the Crusade for the Defense of Our Catholic Church's launch in January 2003, it has conducted numerous ad campaigns, organized protests, and activated Catholics across the country. The program is designed to encourage Catholic bishops to act on this grave matter.
