ALL Speakers Fighting for Personhood Globally As Mexico City Policy to be Overturned

Washington, D.C. (9 January 2009) – One day after President-elect Barack Obama assumes office promising to overturn the Mexico City Policy, American Life League's Training and Activism Week and Personhood Conference is presenting a panel of speakers dedicated to spreading globally the idea of personhood for all human beings from creation until death.

Countering the new administration's attack on human life, the panel discussion, 2 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Liaison Hotel in Washington D.C., presents the urgent need for the legal rights and personhood of all human beings the world over.

The Mexico City Policy currently ensures that all non-governmental organizations receiving United States funding will not perform or refer for abortions.

"At a time when Obama is pushing for millions more tax dollars to the United Nations Population Fund,  the fight for personhood is being waged on a worldwide scale," said Erik Whittington, director of Rock for Life, a project of American Life League. "Training and Activism Week participants will take home the simplicity and eloquence of the personhood message from international leaders who know that personhood is effective in building a culture of life both at home and abroad."

Prue Nieberding, director of Youth for Life of Australia; Melissa Powell, a social worker in Nigeria; and Fr. Bill Belrose, of Human Life International, are among the panel group discussing the importance of personhood.

The international guests join an illustrious group of speakers heralding the return of the personhood movement. Alan Keyes, founder and chairman of the Declaration Foundation, joins keynote speaker Judie Brown; 40 Days for Life leader David Bereit; Kristi Burton, architect of the Colorado personhood movement; Dr. Theresa Deisher, world renowned scientist and stem cell researcher; Lila Rose, president of Live Action Films; and renowned pro-life blogger Jill Stanek.

The Personhood Conference concludes American Life League's Training and Activism Week Jan. 21-23. For more information, visit www.rockforlife.org/taw<http://www.rockforlife.org/taw>.
