ALL Sets Record Straight as Obama Prepares to Meet with Pope

Washington, D.C. (02 July 2009) – American Life League supporters want the pope to know the truth about President Barack Obama’s record on abortion.

They’re banding together after the editor of the Vatican’s quasi-official newspaper, L’Osservatore Romano, made a statement that stunned the pro-life community around the world.

On May 20, Gian Maria Vian claimed, “Obama has not upset the world. …Obama is not a pro-abortion president.”

“The over 51 million victims of abortion in America would disagree," responded Judie Brown, president of American Life League.

American Life League launched a petition Wednesday to set the record straight before President Barack Obama visits Pope Benedict XVI July 10.

“Obama is the most aggressive enemy of preborn human beings the United States has ever seen,” Brown said, “and yet the editor of the Vatican newspaper tells us Obama is not pro-abortion? The Holy Father deserves to know the truth.”

Supporters are signing the following petition, which points to Obama’s virulently pro-abortion record:

We, the undersigned, present to Pope Benedict XVI, on the eve of President Barack Obama’s arrival at the Vatican, a record of the president’s unequivocal support for abortion, which is fueling our current culture of death. We hope this information and our testimony will alert Pope Benedict to the grave assault currently underway in the United States on the dignity of the human person.

Despite information to the contrary from the Vatican’s L’Osservatore Romano newspaper, we ardently affirm that President Obama is indeed the most pro-abortion president in the history of the United States.

We eagerly await the Holy Father’s pastoral guidance to advance a culture of life in an atmosphere of cruel dehumanization and selfish disregard for human life.

The signatures and documentation of President Obama’s disdain for human beings’ right to life will be sent to the Vatican prior to the president’s visit.

American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to death.  For more information or press inquiries, please contact Katie Walker at 540.659.4942.
