ALL Congratulates ’40 Days for Life’ Campaign’s Doubled Planned Parenthood Presence

Washington, D.C. (24 September 2008) – For the next 40 days, thousands will unite in a focused pro-life effort to end the scourge of abortion through prayer, fasting, community outreach and peaceful vigils at abortion mills and Planned Parenthood facilities across the country.

40 Days for Life kicks off the 2008 campaign Sept. 24 at over 170 locations across the country – 87 sites are Planned Parenthood clinics.

Last year only 39 sites were Planned Parenthood locations.

"We congratulate 40 Days for Life on organizing another successful campaign and are excited about their focus on Planned Parenthood," said Jim Sedlak, vice president of American Life League. "This giant abortion chain is the principle vehicle the culture of death has used to spread its deadly message since the organization's inception in 1916."

American Life League's STOP Planned Parenthood program has been the pro-life movement's watchdog and authority on Planned Parenthood research since 1985. David Bereit, the national director of 40 Days For Life, has long been an outspoken foe of Planned Parenthood. Former Planned Parenthood president, Gloria Feldt, once called his hometown the most anti-choice community in the nation.

"We're so excited to support the 40 Days for Life campaign as it fights abortion at Planned Parenthood and elsewhere nationwide," Sedlak said, "and we're firmly convinced that breaking Planned Parenthood's death grip on our society will be one of the greatest factors in ending abortion in America."

American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to death.
