Stopping the Funds to Planned Parenthood Is about More Than Abortion

American Life League contacted President-elect Donald Trump’s team this week highlighting the need to end government funding of comprehensive sexuality education programs. These programs are specifically created by Planned Parenthood and its sister organization SIECUS to get young people involved in a sexual lifestyle.

PREP (Personal Responsibility Education Program) was created by Obamacare and is the first state-grant program from the federal government that funds comprehensive sex education. PREP provides $75 million for states to fund evidence-based sex education programs. Twenty-six Planned Parenthood affiliates across the nation receive funding from PREP. These programs increase the “demand” for abortion.

In addition, the federal Teen Pregnancy Prevention Initiative provides $101 million annually to community organizations and local governments for evidence-based, teen pregnancy prevention programs. Fifteen local Planned Parenthood affiliates across the country were selected by Obama’s Department of Health and Human Services to receive new grant funding as part of this Teen Pregnancy Prevention Initiative.

We encourage our readers to ask their members of Congress to take action now to stop all funding of Planned Parenthood and to cut off funding for these “comprehensive sexuality education” programs.

In other matters, over the objection of Democrats, the House Committee on Administration voted this week to approve an additional $800,000 for the Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives. The money is in addition to the panel’s previously approved $790,000 budget and puts it on track to spend more than $1.5 million by the end of the year. The 14-member panel was formed last year after the release of undercover videos that accused Planned Parenthood of breaking federal laws by selling tissues and organs of aborted fetuses. Its final report is due by the end of the year.

There will be no PLTW next week. Due to the Thanksgiving holidays, American Life League’s offices will be closed next Thursday and Friday. We wish all of our readers a Happy Thanksgiving as you take the day to thank God for all the blessings He has given you and your family. The PLTW will resume publication on December 2.
