This week, the House of Representatives Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives released the first set of documents from its investigation into the baby body parts business in the United States.
Although the panel has much work left to complete, and conducted additional hearings this week on “The Pricing of Fetal Tissue,” these initial documents appear to show that the charges made against Planned Parenthood are true. Planned Parenthood does profit from the sale of aborted baby parts.
The documents break down the flow of money from the customer to what is called the procurement business and then to the abortion clinic. Included in the documents are promotional material given by the procurement business to the abortion clinic promising the clinic “financial benefit” and “financial profit.” It also shows a draft partnership agreement between the procurement business and the “abortion trade association” in which the procurement business agrees to pay the association $10,000 for a year of working together.
In addition, the documents show that a procurement technician, working for the procurement business, does all the work retrieving and shipping the baby body parts while a “middleman” pays the abortion clinic per tissue.
One document, labeled “Exhibit G,” specifically states that the AC (abortion clinic) has no costs, so the payments from the PB (procurement business) to the AC are pure profit. All costs are borne by the PB or the customer. The payments from the customer to the PB exceed its cost by a factor of 300 to 400 percent.
Also this week, Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, spoke at Georgetown University. Her appearance was a cause for scandal as the supposedly “Catholic” university defied the local bishop and the clear admonition of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops by agreeing to let Cecile speak on campus. To add to the scandal, Richards was introduced by a senior student who reportedly said “God is pro-choice” and followed that with “I believe that I’m a strong Catholic.”
No media or persons other than Georgetown students were allowed into the talk. However, several students tweeted about Richards’ statements as they happened. It is clear that Richards used the time to promote the anti-God work of Planned Parenthood. A tweet during the event said, “So far I have heard pro-lifers referred to as ‘crazies’ and protestors had their right to protest questioned.”
According to reports, GU students gave Richards a standing ovation when she was introduced and another when she finished. One tweet reported “GU students cheering for more abortion clinics being opened.” That should tell you what kind of education happens at Georgetown.
One Georgetown senior, Amber Athey, summed up everything with this tweet: “Apparently being pro-choice is hard. . . . Geez Cecile imagine how hard it is to be a minority pro-lifer AT A CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY.”
