The Country Is Changing Its Mind about Planned Parenthood

As the battle intensifies over taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood, PP is showing signs of desperation.

Back in 1985, when most people in the United States thought Planned Parenthood was part of the “good guys,” ALL’s executive director would travel all across the country giving a talk entitled “Planned Parenthood: The Problem—Not the Solution.” The intent was to change the image of Planned Parenthood and let people know that it was actually the cause of the problems it was claiming to solve.

Fast forward to 2017. On Saturday, January 21, at the Women’s March in Washington, DC, Planned Parenthood’s president, Cecile Richards, told the crowd, ““For the majority of people in this country, Planned Parenthood is not the problem, we are the solution.” Then on March 9, 2017, Planned Parenthood Tweeted: “Planned Parenthood is the solution—not the problem.”

Planned Parenthood is recognizing the seismic shift in public opinion over the last few years. It is now seen by more and more individuals as a destructive organization.

As evidence of this fact, the Mount Desert Islander in Maine announced yesterday that Planned Parenthood will conduct

an advanced activist training, in the Gates Auditorium at College of the Atlantic on Tuesday, May 23, from 6-8:30 p.m.

The training will answer these questions: Who is Planned Parenthood and what does it do? What fights is Planned Parenthood currently facing? How can Planned Parenthood issues be talked about? How can participants use their stories to make an impact? What is involved in becoming a Planned Parenthood ambassador?

In other words, Planned Parenthood cannot let its activities speak for themselves. It must train activists to spin stories about its operations in an overt effort to deceive the American public, and our politicians, into thinking that Planned Parenthood is a good thing. It is not. It never has been.

Make sure all your elected representatives know the truth about the organization. The truth is, Planned Parenthood is the problem—not the solution.
