May Is a Great Time to Pray in Public

We traditionally dedicate the month of May to Mary, the Mother of God. We are now halfway through the month and we ask every one of our readers to do something special in the next 12 days. Take a picture, statue, or other image of the Blessed Mother to your local Planned Parenthood (or other abortion facility). While there, say a simple prayer or even a rosary for the conversion of all involved in abortion in our country.

In 2009, STOPP put together a campaign called Bringing Jesus to Planned Parenthood through Mary. With the help of Bishop Emeritus John Yanta of Amarillo, Texas, we developed special prayers for the campaign. In addition, we created signs with three different images of Mary and Jesus: Our Lady of Guadalupe (who is pregnant in the image), Our Lady of Life, and L’Innocence. After an overwhelming welcoming of the campaign by pro-life groups and individuals in 2009, the campaign was officially rolled out nationally in 2010 outside the Planned Parenthood abortion facility on 16th Street NW (now closed) in Washington, DC.

The results have been amazing! Eight years after the campaign was created:

  • Planned Parenthood has closed an average of 27 clinics a year!
  • Planned Parenthood’s annual number of customers has dropped from 3,000,000 in 2008 to 2,500,000 in 2014 (the last year for which PP has released data).
  • The growth of abortions at Planned Parenthood has literally been stopped in its tracks. According to Planned Parenthood data, Planned Parenthood’s total abortion number in 2008 was 324,008. Planned Parenthood’s total abortion number in 2014 was 323,999.

More importantly, babies have been saved, mothers have given life to their children, and teens have been protected from the ravages of Planned Parenthood’s sex indoctrination programs.

By going to your local Planned Parenthood or other abortion facility in the next 12 days, you will make a bold statement. You will be demonstrating a faith in God and in His Blessed Mother—a faith that Planned Parenthood can be defeated through dedicated prayer and a peaceful, prayerful presence outside these facilities.

Please go out this weekend. Then get a few friends and go out on Memorial Day weekend. Let all those who spread the culture of death in our society know that we love them, are praying for them, and are not afraid to let the whole community know this by praying on the streets in public.
