Some people say that abortion is just a procedure, some say it is a right, and some say it is as simple as a tooth extraction. While all these characterizations miss the point that abortion kills both a person and a conscience in one fell swoop, we are constantly amazed at the impudence of those who will go to any length to propagate this viewpoint while lying!
Take this Indiana judge for example. A LifeNews article explains:
Writing for the majority, Judge David Hamilton, a Democrat appointee who has struck down multiple pro-life laws, said the law was not viewpoint-neutral because it prohibited speech that would help a minor get an abortion without parental consent while allowing speech that discouraged it. Judge Michael Scudder concurred in the result but said the majority undervalued Indiana’s compelling interest in keeping parents involved in such a serious decision for their daughters.
It is a mishmash of language that results in minor girls legally continuing to seek an end to the lives of their preborn children without regard to the individual rights of the second party—the baby. Planned Parenthood claimed that to do otherwise would be to render a judicial opinion based on viewpoints regarding abortion.
Oh, but I forgot. The law does not recognize that second individual, so taking her life is not a concern.
While state officials have asked the court to review its decision, we can safely assume that, for now, preborn babies will continue to be fair game under that Indiana law, not to mention federal law.
This recipe for self-imposed audacity reeks, but it has been going on for so long that in the minds of some people the very idea of opposing abortion is but a matter of perspective. This is just one among many viewpoints on abortion when the act is viewed through the lens of majority rule.
Additionally, we continue to see media proclaim that in states like Texas with so-called abortion bans, women are dying from ectopic pregnancies. Yet Texas Right to Life is quick to point out that “Texas law clearly allows life-saving care for women, and the real danger to women is being ignored—abortion pills.”
This viewpoint is somewhat encouraging, but to be perfectly clear, the real danger to women is to ignore the reality that any type of abortion is deadly for the growing baby and devastating to the long-term well-being of the mother who experiences the abortion, regardless of how the abortion occurs.
Dr. Wiliam Lile, an OB/GYN and speaker also known as the ProLife Doc, explains that his talks about the truth of the preborn baby enable those who hear his presentation to experience “cutting‑edge medical animations and biblical truth to equip churches, schools, and organizations to defend the pre-born with confidence and compassion.”
In other words, there is no room for a viewpoint when medical facts and biblical truth are the foundation of our struggle to expose the hypocrisy that ends the lives of so many babies.
We realize that for many folks today there is always going to be a debate, whether the question is where to go out to eat or which doctor to see when deciding that now is not the time for a baby. That is the world we live in, and in this atmosphere, everyone has a viewpoint.
But let me point something out. This is first and foremost a spiritual battle. Even if hedonism reflects the public rhetoric, God is still in charge of each life that He has brought into being. To that end, we turn to wisdom that is not couched in political terminology but rather speaks to Christ and His precious blood. In his Sunday Angelus on July 5, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI spoke to this connection between the precious blood and the dignity of human life: “The blood of Christ is the pledge of God’s faithful love for humanity. Every human being, even in conditions of extreme moral wretchedness can say, fixing his eyes on the wounds of the Crucified One: ‘God has not abandoned me, he loves me, he has given his life for me,’ and thus rediscover hope.”
This is the message that our fellow countrymen need to hear, especially those committed to aborting, euthanizing, or otherwise taking the lives of our fellow persons. Each without exception belongs to God!
That is not a viewpoint but an undeniable Truth.
