Trump’s Foxtrot

By Judie Brown

In some circles, the foxtrot is a very popular ballroom dance because it is “adaptable to different tempos, allowing dancers to perform it to both fast-paced jazz and slower, more romantic melodies.” Anyone who has enjoyed dancing with someone who is very good at the foxtrot understands the pleasure it entails. I know this because my beloved husband was a fantastic dancer, making up for my clumsiness. Thank God!

But a dance is not a way to govern, and our current president does this dance far too often. President Trump’s ethics are constantly moving on a sliding scale. He is adaptable to any posture available, including meandering toward a full-on pro-abortion identity.

When the media reported several days ago that the Trump administration was quietly continuing funding to Planned Parenthood, it came as no shock to us. We might even say it was expected, but then the sea change occurred. We read that the Trump White House was moving funds away from contraception and providing support to promoting natural family planning methods.

The White House is circulating a notice stating, “HHS will soon be releasing a new Title X funding opportunity for the next five-year funding cycle that prioritizes life and promotes the pro-family agenda. . . . This approach has failed to adequately address the root causes of the nation’s chronic disease burden, resulting in ongoing health challenges that affect fertility, pregnancy outcomes, and long-term health outcomes.”

Health and Human Services said it will now focus on “underlying behavioral and lifestyle factors of health—such as nutrition, sleep, physical activity, stress management, and environmental factors.”

White the media reports that the White House is realigning the Title X program, there is no clear information regarding exactly how much funding will go to Planned Parenthood, which is precisely why we take caution in reporting the positive news that the administration is supporting alternatives to contraception. We certainly hope this comes to pass, but on the political dance floor, everything turns at a pace that is unbelievably chaotic.

The most recent budget proposal to emerge from the White House does not contain one cent for Planned Parenthood, but it must survive both houses of Congress, so nothing is written in stone. And as the process wends its way through the lawmakers, Planned Parenthood continues to receive our tax dollars.

So, what exactly can be done?

Know the facts.

The latest report from pro-life researcher Carole Novielli states, “Planned Parenthood’s just-released 2024-2025 annual report exposes yet another record year for the abortion corporation, which topped its previous record for the highest number of abortions in a year as well as its previous record in taxpayer dollars.”

Educate your friends.

Share the information in ALL’s latest Wednesday STOPP Report with those who are not aware of or who have not seen the latest ways Planned Parenthood is losing its grip bit by bit.

Pray.

Throughout our 50-plus years of fighting Planned Parenthood, we have relied heavily on the Lord and continue to do so. We encourage you to prayerfully reflect on the most effective ways you can serve the babies and the Lord while exposing the evils permeating our society.

When someone asks how effective we have been over these past years, we always say there is no need to keep track of that, as God has the scorecard and we trust in His power, grace, and guidance.

And while some elected officials prefer to dance a foxtrot with the devil, we prefer to entrust our work to God.
