I could not believe my eyes when I read Providence, Rhode Island's Bishop Thomas Tobin's weekly column entitled "Without a doubt: My R.S.V.P. to Rudy Giuliani"
Bishop Tobin's sense of humor makes the column well worth the read, even if one is not interested in his precise analysis of the reasons why Giuliani is so very wrong in his support for abortion.
Bishop Tobin opines, "Rudy’s public proclamations on abortion are pathetic and confusing. Even worse, they’re hypocritical."
He then goes on to make it crystal clear that he is not only not buying the Guiliani "drivel" but is appalled by Rudy's obvious "defection" from the Catholic Church hand her teaching.
There are no words to describe my sincere appreciation for Bishop Thomas J. Tobin's insightful, courageous and, yes, humorous column. May I add that it is my sincere prayer that other bishops who receive invitations to a Giuliani fund raisier with "photo op" will respond in precisely the same way Bishop Tobin did.
Maybe then the former Mayor of New York City will see how ridiculous his claim to be Catholic really is; and in the process, he might even repent of his support for the killing of the preborn.
