Lingo: a “language characteristic”
Planned Parenthood’s world is full of deception, including the way it views those who disagree with its killing methods. Its staff have a particular way of talking about the human being that we like to think of as their lingo.
For example, Planned Parenthood made a request that Utah Supreme Court justice John Neilsen be disqualified from a case being heard in Utah’s court because the justice coauthored a brief for Pro-Life Utah. Now that the state’s trigger law is before the court, Planned Parenthood wants its case heard its way with only its approved judges in charge. This represents the Planned Parenthood version of justice, which is pro-death without exception.
This is a perfect example of its lingo, which illustrates PP’s belief that justice equates with killing preborn children.
However, it doesn’t stop with Utah! The game is afoot in Congress too. When federal funding for Planned Parenthood and its allies is up for grabs, pro-death lingo is at its best.
Certain members of the Trump administration would like to defund Planned Parenthood, but it seems that the will to do so is as limp as a wet noodle. The final reconciliation bill coming out of Congress does not defund Planned Parenthood but rather ignores the opportunity.
Undaunted, pro-life advocates persist in seeking ways to deny tax dollars to the group, citing among other things the Small Business Administration’s review of Planned Parenthood’s paycheck protection gambit. Fighting to maintain its place at the federal funding trough suggests that Planned Parenthood’s inhumane practices will continue, even if disguised as something else.
It’s all about the lingo.
Planned Parenthood defines its practices as care, telling the media that when funding is curtailed a “worsened” public health crisis ensues, “making it harder for people to get the essential and lifesaving care they needed at their trusted provider.”
Using the words “essential and lifesaving” obliterates the truth that Planned Parenthood practices killing preborn babies while assuring its patients that abortion is simply a choice. PP’s mini crises, such as the Wisconsin battle, are actually cease fires on the preborn which, as we have seen, do not last as long as it would take to bake a cake.
Planned Parenthood lingo appears to persuade politicians even as it deceives those very same people.
The latest innovation from Planned Parenthood, a Substack conversation called Between the Sheets, gets to the heart of the matter. When talking about sex, Planned Parenthood is all about provocation. As the organization tells visitors, “Subscribe to our newsletter Between the Sheets where you’ll hear directly from Planned Parenthood experts, advocates, and special guests as we tackle everything from birth control and abortion to menopause and relationships. And keep an eye out for ‘Care Package,’ a weekly roundup of the biggest stories shaping our sexual and reproductive health and freedom.”
Planned Parenthood’s lingo focuses on everything sexual, and as it points out, nothing is off limits. But what its staff have to say about relationships, for example, would bend any sane person’s mind. Having grown up in a family committed to morality, I find it very hard to read that a healthy dating relationship includes letting your partner know “what you like sexually.”
Looking through the Planned Parenthood lens, we see no room for chastity, devotion to doing the will of God, commitment based on morality, and abstinence before marriage. Its lingo affirms acceptance of lust, carnal pleasure, and out-of-wedlock sexuality of every sort. In other words, it is a complete contradiction of truth.
Saint John Paul II taught that men and women bear the divine image within themselves. Contrary to Planned Parenthood’s lingo, the holy father saw attraction between two people as the beginning of something beautiful that culminates in unconditionally loving the other within marriage.
Planned Parenthood’s lingo is replete with encouragement and approval for licentiousness, disregard for the gift of life, and all manner of degradation. Its perverse sense of what it means to belong to the one you love begins with detestation for true love and ends with the death of the soul. Its lingo affirms crimes against persons and masquerades as an individual’s rights and choices; this leaves us chilled to the bone.
Lord, save us and help us to always teach Your love for the human person in every situation. Amen.
