Planned Parenthood in York says new regulations could lead it to stop providing abortions

Planned Parenthood of York County might stop providing abortions if it can’t find a way to comply with a new law that changes how the clinics in Pennsylvania would be regulated, CEO Suellen Craig said.  Gov. Tom Corbett Thursday signed into law a bill that makes abortion clinics subject to the same requirements as non-hospital facilities that provide surgeries. That means abortion clinics would undergo surprise inspections from the Pennsylvania Department of Health and would have to make costly changes their infrastructure.  The law takes effect in 180 days. At the moment, Planned Parenthood is consulting with its lawyers to determine what the law might require them to do and what recourse it might have.
