Planned Parenthood in Lubbock, Texas Operating in Stealth Mode

Washington, D.C. (19 October 2010) – Supporters have alerted American Life League that Aaron Women’s Clinic, an abortion center in Lubbock, Texas, is being operated by Planned Parenthood.

The center is the only abortion business in the Plains region and another example of Planned Parenthood’s shift from its oft-touted abortifacient birth control business to a full-blown surgical abortion facility.

“The Planned Parenthood public relations department has quite the task: convince the public the abortion giant is about reducing abortion, while at the same time, Planned Parenthood’s own numbers show the organization increasingly making surgical abortion a priority,” said Judie Brown, president of American Life League.

American Life League’s Stop Planned Parenthood International (STOPP) project received information some months ago that Aaron’s was selling its abortion facilities. We alerted sidewalk counselors in Lubbock that a transaction may be pending.

Dorothy Boyett, a registered nurse and sidewalk counselor at Aaron’s abortion mill for decades, noticed the CEO of Planned Parenthood coming to Aaron’s with briefcase in hand on surgical abortion days—and staying all day.

Boyett’s research shows that Planned Parenthood has been awarded a license to operate an abortion facility under the name Planned Parenthood Women’s Health Center at the address of Aaron Women’s Clinic in Lubbock. In documents given to the Texas Secretary of State office, Planned Parenthood lists Tony Thornton, the Planned Parenthood CEO, as the agent at the address. The license was effective October 7.

The discovery comes on the heels of the revelation that Planned Parenthood in Utah quietly started committing abortions in August of this year.

“More and more often, Planned Parenthood is committing abortions in stealth mode,” Brown said. “Why then is it hiding under the false narrative of ‘reducing the need for abortion’?”

American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to death.  For more information or press inquiries, please contact Katie Walker at 540.659.4942.
