We need Judie’s timeless wisdom now more than ever!
DEI Is Latin for GOD!
By Judie Brown Yours truly is one of those strange folks who studied Latin for four years, so I know a thing or two about this root language, including the fact that dei is the plural of deus—God. And the words Agnus Dei mean Lamb of God, a meaning far from the cultural concept of DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) being used in today’s cultural vocabulary. So I was fascinated to learn that...
Creating a Civilization of Love, Not Death
Unselfish love a true, Christlike love means always wanting what’s best for the other person and putting others before yourself. This love in no way includes the premature death of a living person. On this day of love and affection, let us not forget all that Christ has taught us. Let us not forget that He suffered and died for us. And let us allow our Christlike love to spill forth and cover our loved ones who are in pain rather than allowing our fears and misguided compassion to snuff out their lives.
Catholic Bishops: Paper Tigers or Roaring Lions?
Catholic bishops and clergy have a responsibility to not only make their voices heard, but to teach those of the Catholic faith how to use their own voices. This means that the clergy must instruct and teach regularly about Catholic tenets and doctrine, yet we do not see this. As we see a continuing moral decline in our country, we realize now more than ever that we need to hear a roar rather than a whimper.
The Devil Made Me Do It!
Satan may be depicted as a red-horned creature, but his appearance is much more insidious. He comes to us through other people, through actions, through thoughts all of which may seem rather innocuous unless you truly examine them. It’s all too easy for thoughts to creep into our heads and hearts that make sins seem “not so bad” and that’s how Satan works. He chips away at morality one stone at a time, until there’s nothing left.
Baby Pandas, Human Babies, and the Press
A sweet newborn baby being loved and doted upon, every movement and sound watched and carefully noted. Sounds like a typical newborn human baby, but in this case, we are talking about a baby animal. Recently we were given a sad example of just how much more our society values animals than preborn babies. This discrepancy should sicken your stomach, should make you think, and should lead you to action.
Socially Polite Child Abuse
Most Americans do not think of abortion as child abuse. But as Mother Teresa once said, “Any country that accepts abortion is . . . teaching its people . . . to use any violence to get what they want.”
Forty-One Years Later the Cruelty Rages
Forty-one years have passed since the Supreme Court took away the rights of an innocent class of people and allowed them to be killed at will. Forty-one years of suffering have ensued. In addition to the millions of babies murdered, countless families ;mothers, fathers, siblings, grandparents, and other family members must live daily with the tragic loss of a child killed before he was born. But it is not too late to change minds and hearts to open them to a love for each and every human being. It is never too late to teach human beings how to love one another.
