Human Rights = No Rights

The European Court of Human Rights has ruled that Leslie Burke, a 46-year-old British man suffering from a degenerative neurological disease, has no reason to fear that he will be dehydrated to death. Therefore the court refused Burke's efforts to ensure that he would not be starved.

It would have been a simple matter for this "human rights" body of judges to affirm Burke's right to be protected for intentional death, and yet they chose to defer to British law, which they claimed was sufficient.

However, Burke told the BBC that he had no confidence in the British medical system because of his awareness that all too frequently doctors make decisions to do what is in the patient's "best interests," which means killing.

I wonder precisely whose human rights this court is supposed to protect.
