Hillary Clinton: The Nominee

By Judie Brown

No, this commentary is not about Hillary’s failed bid for the White House. For that we are surely thankful! Rather, this is about Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s nomination of Hillary as “Champion of the Century.”

Yes, you read that correctly. Clinton will receive this dubious award for “40 years of service to women and girls in this country.”

In a press release, Planned Parenthood says it’s celebrating “one hundred years of care, education, and activism” that it claims “have changed everything.” Furthermore, the organization says it “will not rest until access to health care and rights is a reality for all people.”

That statement says a mouthful about why Planned Parenthood and Hillary Clinton were made for each other. You see, the only kind of healthcare “rights” Planned Parenthood is devoted to involve contraception and abortion. And while both have nothing to do with bodily health, they have a lot to do with Planned Parenthood’s skewed perspective on what women want. This is evident in PP president Cecile Richards’ words when discussing her own abortion:

It was a decision my husband and I made. It was a personal decision. And we have three children that we adore and that are the center of my life. And we decided that was as big as our family needed to be. That was really the story. It wasn’t anything more dramatic than that. But I can’t imagine a woman being in that circumstance—with an unintended pregnancy—and not being able to make her own decision about that pregnancy.

Not at all dramatic, Cecile? Killing a member of your family is apparently just a daily occurrence in the universe you inhabit.

We gather from Cecile’s offhanded treatment of her “unintended” child that the humanity of a preborn child is not—and perhaps never has been—on Richards’ mind. Rather, she views this “unintended pregnancy” as a condition in need of a remedy. Respecting human dignity, even that of her own baby prior to birth, is neither on her mind nor in her heart. How could it be?

Hillary is the perfect match for Planned Parenthood and its president. This should concern us because it might suggest that, in today’s topsy-turvy world of skewed rights and choices, what is truly right and just is no longer a consideration. After all, while one poll finds that the majority of women support some restrictions on abortion, no polling company has yet to ask the only question that truly matters: Is it your right to kill a baby prior to birth?

So perhaps we can say that Hillary is the “champion of the century” when we look at what these past 100 years have held. For example, this century:

  • has witnessed more killings of innocent babies from their biological beginning until the moment of birth than any time in our history
  • has recorded higher rates of sexually transmitted diseases, suicides among young people, and escalating rates of post-abortion trauma that any time in the history of mankind
  • witnessed the use of technology in reproduction to provide babies to same-sex couples and to the unmarried
  • has shown a moral decadence that rivals the rise and fall of the Roman Empire

Yes, Hillary is the best choice to be aligned with such atrocious manifestations of evil run wild in the past century.

Let us hope that this next century will be one of a restoration of faith, of respect for human dignity, and of the celebration of a culture of life!
