In a bit of irony, the Indianapolis Star reported this week that Planned Parenthood Advocates of Indiana and Kentucky is being sued by a former employee. The reason why this woman is suing Planned Parenthood—the organization that claims to be the champion of women’s healthcare? Well, the federal lawsuit claims that Planned Parenthood “intentionally and willfully discriminated against” her after her cancer diagnosis last year. She said the organization rejected her requests for family medical leave for biopsies she needed every three months. If this turns out to be true, it really speaks of a double standard at Planned Parenthood. The organization says one thing publicly, but denies time off for healthcare procedures four times a year.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America is facing FBI investigations for possible criminal activity here in the United States. PPFA is the U.S. affiliate of the International Planned Parenthood Federation. Just this week, IPPF’s affiliate in Spain, the Family Planning Federation, saw its “public-service organization” designation taken away because of its illegal activities. A government investigation revealed that the group had been illegally financed for seven years. FPF appealed, but, on November 25, Spain’s National Court definitively revoked FPF’s public service organization status. This is the equivalent of PPFA losing its tax exempt status in the United States.
