Week in Review

Hugh Brown Addresses Virginia Parish and Encourages a ‘NO’ Vote in November

This past Sunday, Hugh Brown was invited to speak after all Masses at Our Lady of Hope in Sterling, Virginia. Hugh was asked to address the congregation on the two ballot measures that Virginia is facing in November.

The ballot measures are both evil, and Hugh encouraged all Catholics to vote NO. The first question seeks to enshrine abortion into the commonwealth’s constitution, and the second redefines marriage in the commonwealth’s constitution.

This summer, American Life League sent letters to each Catholic parish in Virginia offering resources and speakers to help educate parishioners on why it is imperative that all Catholics vote “no” in November. Our Lady of Hope was one of the parishes that asked for ALL to help.

“I spoke to the congregation and encouraged them to vote No. This is perhaps our most important election yet,” Hugh said of the event. “As an organization based out of Virginia, this is especially close to home. We must work to protect Virginia’s most vulnerable, and to do that, it will take all of us.”

VIDEO: Virginia’s Arlington Diocese Urges Faithful to Pray and Fast for Defeat of State Abortion Amendment

When voters are given the choice either for or against abortion at the ballot box, pro-lifers don’t have a good track record. In 2024, seven states approved amendments to legally kill preborn children. In 2022, half of the abortion-related ballot measures were approved. This November, four states, including Virginia, are deciding if a mother has a right to kill her preborn child.

We’re at a horrific time in American history when the personhood of a preborn child isn’t a consideration when these measures are presented to voters. So what is the faithful to do?

In the Virginia diocese of Arlington, Bishop Michael Burbidge delivered a message that fighting evil requires spiritual warfare. Listen to his message, and if you live in Idaho, Missouri, or Nevada, consider joining this prayer campaign.

Human lives are at stake.
