Latest Knights of Columbus/Marist Poll Shows Troubling Reality about Abortion

The Knights of Columbus/Marist Institute for Public Opinion released its 2026 abortion survey report, shedding light on the current state of what Americans believe when it comes to taking the life of an innocent preborn child through abortion.

While several headlines are heralding the results of the poll as good news for pro-lifers and pro-life laws, we are sad to report that the results of this poll are simply troubling. The Knights of Columbus’ press release explains that “64% of Americans support placing legal limits on abortion, and that 57% support limiting abortions to at most the first three months of pregnancy.” Additionally, the results showed that Americans believe that abortion should be limited “yet include exceptions for rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother.” These opening statements alone are not hopeful declarations to be celebrated, but rather indicative of how our culture perceives the preborn child in the womb: The child is worth protecting “sometimes”—when the child is wanted, when circumstances are not too difficult, and when politics allow.

This relativistic view of the human person’s value at its tiniest and most vulnerable stage is not only proclaimed by those who support abortion in the false name of “choice,” but unfortunately by too many who say they are not in favor of abortion, “except . . . ” These compromises and exceptions trace not only into our laws, which do little to save lives when we exclude some preborn lives from others, but most importantly shape our hearts and minds on how we truly view the intrinsic value of the human person.

Of course, we want to both hear and proclaim good news, some of which can seemingly be found in these results, such as 54% of those polled opposing taxpayer funding for abortion domestically and 69% opposing funding internationally. However, if opposing our money going toward abortion is where our fight for protection of the preborn child starts and ends, then we truly have a problem. We must be honest with ourselves and ask how advocating for some preborn lives and not others is truly “winning” or a “victory.”

We must also ask ourselves why we are against abortion if we are okay with it sometimes. Either abortion is murder, or it is not. These results show us that there is much more work to be done if Americans think abortion needs “limits” rather than acknowledging that abortion is always an evil and that babies in the womb are humans with dignity from the moment of fertilization.

If we are to change hearts and minds on what abortion really is and who a baby in the womb is, we must acknowledge that this is a spiritual battle, not a political one. We do not give up hope because of the evils in this world, but we cling to Our Lord more closely and ask Him what we can do to serve Him and protect the most vulnerable of His children. At American Life League, we will continue to educate about why we must defend the human person at all stages in life, with no exceptions or compromises.

Texas AG Sues Another Abortion Pill Drug Cartel Distributor

Texas attorney general Ken Paxton has sued Delaware nurse practitioner Debra Lynch, operator of Her Safe Harbor (also known as Delaware Community Care), for allegedly violating Texas laws by prescribing and mailing the two-pill abortion regimen mifepristone and misoprostol to Texas residents.

The lawsuit claims that Lynch breached the Human Life Protection Act by facilitating abortions without a physician and practicing medicine without a Texas license. Packages were sent to cities including Beaumont, Houston, and El Paso. This marks Texas’ second such action against out-of-state providers, following a dismissed suit against a New York clinic due to shield laws. The case, filed in Jefferson County, seeks injunctions to halt Lynch’s activities and tests Delaware’s shield protections, which safeguard providers for abortion in Delaware and allow them to send the pills into other states without repercussions.

This new lawsuit only confirms what we warned about in American Life League’s 2024 report Beneath the Surface: Exposing the Abortion Pill Drug Cartel, which uncovered cartel-like networks of online clinics, providers, and volunteers illegally importing and distributing mifepristone and misoprostol on a massive scale, rivaling drug crises.

The report highlighted a 40,000 increase in DIY abortions from 2023-2024, with online facilities accounting for 14% officially but likely 50% or more due to hidden shipments under shield laws—the same laws allowing the nurse in Delaware to send these pills into Texas.

Entities like Lynch’s that send pills into states where abortion is restricted flagrantly disregard laws, fueling this underground cartel and endangering women and babies. They must face stringent legal repercussions if we ever expect the abortion pill drug cartel to end.

Our lawmakers have yet to take seriously the crisis our nation is under in regard to the abortion pill regimen. Yes, they certainly endanger women, but what’s even more important is that they take an innocent life every single time. When abortion pills are successful, one person dies. When unsuccessful, two die. Neither scenario is acceptable. While we certainly applaud efforts to hold the drug cartel accountable, we know that no real change will be made unless these pills are eradicated entirely.

Culture of Life Studies Program

Unconditional Love and Respect for Everyone: St. John Bosco: Middle school students will learn about the life of St. John Bosco and how he created a home and school for young boys who had nowhere to go and no one to care for them. Through stories about his lessons and his life, students will learn to reflect on potential prejudices they have toward certain people based on their appearances, behaviors, or financial status. They will be challenged to think about how their own choices can have a lasting positive impact when they treat all people with respect. Why is this crucial for forming the next pro-life generation? Caring for everyone, regardless of what they have or what they can do, is what God commands of us. And it’s the only way we can positively impact our culture. ORDER HERE

VIDEO: Conceived in Rape, Woman Asks If She Deserved the Law’s Protection

The pro-life movement loves to pass abortion regulations, celebrating them as pro-life victories. “If it saves one life” they say, “then isn’t the law worth passing?” The problem with this strategy is like walking halfway to your goal with every approach. You will never get there.

Rebecca Kiessling is a pro-life advocate who speaks on behalf of preborn children conceived through the act of sexual violence. If you’ve never heard of her, know that she was conceived in rape. Her story puts into perspective the dignity every human being possesses, no matter the circumstances of his creation.

Kiessling’s question to a pro-abortion student found the student struggling for words:

Warning: The following video contains one use of the f-word. Headphones are strongly recommended.

The problem with tolerating abortion in cases of sexual violence is that you’re telling the one conceived in rape, “I don’t think it matters if you were dead right now.”

Trainor is forcing the baby to bond with a stranger rather than her mother.

We’ve heard it said before. “If I was conceived in rape, it would be okay if my mother aborted me.”
