The age of “worthless” people has led us to some rather odious situations. Take the case of caregivers who strive to subtly coerce their patients to death, whether by imposed or self-administered death. A suffering person needs increased commitment to life from those around him, but if the opposite influences are a part of his daily existence, it is not surprising that he might request an early death. After all, he feels that is what, according to his loved ones, is best for him!
While we find such attitudes revolting, protagonists of such thoughts view them as compassionate.
That sort of “we know what is best for you” assertion applies to the education of children as well. In Massachusetts, a dad had to go to court to protect his five-year-old son from the brainwashing he was receiving as books supporting the lesbian, gay, and trans ideology were being read to kindergartners. When his repeated requests to opt his son out of these classes failed, he had to go to court. This does not bode well for parents in any state whose children are viewed by teachers and curriculum developers as putty in the hands of the evildoers.
This is one reason American Life League founded the Culture of Life Studies Program—our pro-life education program that creates standalone, downloadable booklets for kids from pre-K through high school. We make it easy for you to teach pro-life values at home, no matter where your kids go to school. We do this because we understand that in a sea of degenerative filth, there needs to be more courage in defense of truth to combat the ill-advised educators who see changes in society as their signal to brainwash the unaware.
Such demons are never satisfied. The pro-death steamroller moves forward even when science is literally screaming that everyone stop and see the truth that is before their eyes. Think about the new study from Caltech, reported by Live Action, that “revealed a specialized asymmetry between the two cells of fertilized human beings in their earliest stages of development, disproving the previous assumption that the cells of embryos only serve specific roles later in development.”
In the wake of human embryo research and the current popular denial of fundamental scientific facts, this study breathes new life into our battle. We know and teach the fact that a person begins his or her long journey in life at the first moment of creation. Advocates of abortion will not acknowledge this truth, of course, but to my mind it is obvious that the more facts we have to throw on their deadly fire, the better our chances are of teaching truth, even when the powerful would do all in their ability to quiet us.
Our mission is to tell the truth about life, including its delicacy, its reality, and its gift. Those who venture onto the bloody path of the death culture deny reality, somehow believing that if they repeat a lie often enough, everyone will come to believe it. As this unfolds, more people die because their true worth is weighed on a balance with self-absorption and detestation of God and His power.
We must change that, one person at a time. In this new year we have new ideas, new publications, and creative ways to invite the public to learn. But is that enough?
It is no joke that the enemies of truth appear to hold all the cards, but they do not actually hold anything other than a lust for death. The antidote is Christ, for as Saint John of the Cross wrote, “Never give up prayer, and should you find dryness and difficulty, persevere in it for this very reason. God often desires to see what love your soul has, and love is not tried by ease and satisfaction.”
Pro-life work is love. Our work is never easy, but the rewards are eternal. That is no joke!
