  • Planned Parenthood had the chance to accept government funding if it stopped aborting babies. It refused.
  • New Jersey moms and babies now suffer a new threat at the hands of Planned Parenthood..

By Katie Brown Xavios

Last Thursday, a three-judge panel for the US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit voted to allow Congress to strip Planned Parenthood of its Medicaid reimbursements for a full year. The bill, as currently written, allows Planned Parenthood to receive Medicaid reimbursements only if it first stops committing abortions that fall outside of various exceptions clauses.

When the bill was first announced, rumors swelled that Planned Parenthood would give affiliates the option to cease all abortions in an effort to maintain federal funding.

Posts on the liberal social media site BlueSky stated that Alexis McGill Johnson, president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, reportedly confirmed that this was an option she wanted to provide to affiliates.

Carter Sherman (@cartersherman.bsky.social) posted the following:

An appeals court is letting the Trump administration “defund” Planned Parenthood by icing it out of Medicaid.

In a press call, I asked Planned Parenthood CEO Alexis McGill Johnson if the group is considering letting affiliates stop providing abortions to preserve federal funding. She confirmed it:

Our Planned Parenthood committees have created an option for affiliates to stop providing abortions in the event that abortion is able to [be] provided in that community. That’s not an attempt to walk away from abortion. Planned Parenthood strongly stands behind our need and ability to provide abortion care wherever it is legal in this country. It is simply an opportunity for us to engage our federation to be able to provide care and preserve as much Medicaid funding for reimbursement.

However, subsequent posts then confirmed that not only had Planned Parenthood backed off the idea of stepping away from abortions but was doubling down on it, confirming that abortion is always its number one priority.

The statement read in part:

There will never be a world in which Planned Parenthood walks away from providing abortion care—to the contrary, our marching orders are simple: Care continues. PPFA and its members will continue to partner to find innovative ways for patients to continue to access the full range of reproductive care from their local Planned Parenthood. And Planned Parenthood health care clinics will continue to provide abortion care everywhere it is lawful to do so.

Listen to its own words again: “There will never be a world in which Planned Parenthood walks away from providing abortion care.”

When given the opportunity to perhaps show that it is more interested in patient care than abortion violence, Planned Parenthood chooses to double down. This proves (not that we needed the proof) that Planned Parenthood’s number one priority has been and always will be abortion violence.

Planned Parenthood is 100% no exceptions when it comes to providing abortion. It’s time that pro-lifers band together to be truly pro-life without exception and without compromise.

STOPP encourages our lawmakers to fully defund the abortion giant without exception.

On September 11, 2025, Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan New Jersey announced that it was “proud” to begin offering telehealth pill abortions through its virtual health center. Anyone in the state can now have the abortion pill “delivered right to their door” after a short phone or video call with a nurse or abortionist.

In its press release, PPMNJ boasted that this move offers “safe, compassionate care.” First, we must understand that there’s nothing compassionate about helping a mother kill her child. Second, we must look at the reality: Virtual abortions not only kill preborn babies but also pose a great risk to mothers, who take these pills at home alone. A virtual assessment cannot rule out an ectopic pregnancy or accurately determine the age of the baby. Further, after taking the abortion pill, mothers might experience more severe complications, including life-threatening infections and bleeding, while suffering their abortions alone or with little support.

Additionally, this Planned Parenthood affiliate claims that its virtual abortion appointments allow patients to “receive comprehensive and unbiased information on all their options.” PP clearly benefits from a mother’s decision to have an abortion. Even if the organization offers information about other options, how unbiased can its salesmen really be?

As discussed in our 2025 Planned Parenthood Facilities Report, these virtual health centers are a key part of the abortion giant’s new strategy. Virtual appointments are drastically cheaper than in-person services. PP no longer needs a physical facility, multiple staff members, pregnancy tests, abortion instruments, and other costly resources to kill a baby. With just one staff member, a mobile device, and pills sent through the mail, it can rake in its blood money and funnel more resources to its political activism and executive staff.

This shift to virtual appointments, in the works since 2008, has helped Planned Parenthood thrive despite dwindling numbers of patients, fewer facilities, and threats to government funding. Its app, telehealth services, and 43 virtual health centers allow it to prescribe contraception, gender hormone drugs, and abortion pills with fewer costs and restrictions. PPMNJ’s announcement means that 24 of these virtual health centers now kill preborn babies via telehealth. While we rejoice at the growing number of physical facility closures, we must not confuse adaptation with decline. Planned Parenthood killed more than 400,000 babies in 2024, and that number increases every year. With this development, even more preborn New Jerseyans are within its deadly reach.
